I view Rare as the MMO-Lite developer that created Sea of Thieves. The hugely successful pirate game. I think Everwild will follow Sea of Thieves footsteps because its a formula that Rare has had success with.
Rare is one of the least exciting developers under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella at the moment.
I’m looking forward to Perfect Dark by The Initiative though.
I feel like this should be on a plaque that I can just present to the community for as many times as I’ve said something similar… though in unnecessarily more verbose fashion
According to Jeff Grubb there’s nothing what Kojima is doing with MS would prevent Kojima from working with PS again, if PS so chooses. He thinks it’s unlikely PS wants to work with Kojima, unless he just wants to make a MG game, any other weird shit…get out of here. Which was him speculating.
But he’s going to make a game for MS. Nothing changed there.
Kojima tweeting a blog for Playstation means absolutely nothing. It doesn’t suggest they’re working together again, so I’m not sure why anyone would come to that conclusion…
The videogame industry is a relatively small and tight knit industry. Unlike most of the fans that partake in internet discourse around the hobby, they actually celebrate each other and the work they do regardless of their corporate affiliations.
Hermen Hulst mentioned Kojima in the context of the past.
Yeah. You know, these partnerships [Haven from Jade Raymond and recently Firewalk] are very exciting. You could, I guess, make a distinction between development teams who are part of Sony — like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Media Molecule, Sucker Punch, and so on — and then development teams who are working with us like partners… Haven, Firewalk, but also teams we’ve worked with over years, like Kojima Productions, From Software.
On the other hand… Thomas Puha, Communications Director at Remedy, also retweets some PlayStation’s posts (with this interview as well) and we already know that Remedy is doing 2 games in the same universe – bigger, smaller – for Epic Games Publishing. Before that publishing announcement ShuheiYoshida was visiting Remedy. Are they doing some game together? No.
This is probably right. Also, the Josh Sawyer project is in early pre-production experimental phase. As soon as he decides what its going to be - expect that team to grow fast.
