Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

Starfield is the next big thing from Bethesda, there’s absolutely no way it’s going to be something not great.

Starfield IS the big game for this E3 followed by Zelda, the first Horizon was a forgettable game that is just being praised now because it has good graphics.

Beyond graphics, Starfield has a whole developer legacy, a whole history of giant great games, Starfield and Zelda are going to eat this E3 alive.

Also Elden Ring if it shows up, despite rumors.

It’s seems that for a lot of people a game being great for them isn’t enough, it needs to impress the so called other side. The idea of needing to “win” E3 is so middle school.

Not just you, the gaming news space moves incredibly fast. Let’s not forget that there were very minor rumblings of discontent on the Sony side just a few months ago because Sony was being quiet and Xbox was constantly in the news cycle, but now it is reversed.

Xbox + PC means multiplatform…

Correction then: They are convinced it will release on PlayStation.

I know what they meant, just playing with their own former words. Convictions are a funny thing.

I do not think they should show the halo demo from last year. The game won’t ever be the graphical showcase(and that’s ok) but they should show that it is a technical showcase. Show a large battle situation like halo 3’s scarab fight.

They could release the summer showcase from 2020 a a demo for us to play with the better graphics of course.

Exactly leading to next gen there was panic that Sony was too quiet and Microsoft always in the news. However Sony made sure to nail their message and quickly took over mindshare about information being fed. I think it’s more important to nail the message rather than constantly being in the news. Microsoft is in a position right now to get their homerun if Starfield, Halo, and lets say Omen and Horizon look great.

This, show possibility, show new guns and vehicles.

Grappling hook action, amazing new set pieces…

I think for halo showcase should show different section of campaign and something that can show the graphics quality has improved. Also like i’ve said in the past Microsoft needs a state of play like event a month before launch to showcase stuff like multiplayer, forge tools, campaign, and other features.

Starfield will have a surprise in the form of the God of War We can keep throwing very nice theories around, or we can just wait. Personally, I do not believe that the game Besezda can somehow become a graphical showcase (none of them were) But, I am sincerely looking forward to this game

I’m guessing you listened to the latest Xbox Two podcast

Would anyone else also want a roadmap type of short but to the point recap of all the studios and their work in progress ? Kinda like Marvel does them. Because of this radio silence it creates an awful narrative and false expectations that lead to disappointment that could be prevented with such a roadmap display. I see so many people that still think MS will show so many games, gameplay as well, from Fable, Perfect Dark, Everwild, Gears 6, Elder Scrolls 6 etc. A roadmap of sorts, like an update of the future and the stuff that’s cooking will go a long way in destroying that false narrative. Phil could come on stage and give us an update ‘‘Inxile is working on this (show logo maybe, name of their game)’’ and same for all the other studios that are far out and make us understand that it takes years to make great games and they need time and that the pandemic extended that period and that he hopes we understand and that it will be totally worth the wait. Tell us that the days of MS releasing games within 2-3 years just to hit a deadline are over, that we’re going to let the studios take all the time they need to make GREAT games I think a lot of people will be very excited about the reassurance of the bright future Xbox has. They should have done this last year imo. I don’t want to hear, each year, ‘‘Is Fable out this year, will Fable be at E3 this year’’. If you tell people that we shouldn’t expect some of these titles for another 2-3 years that’ll at least set expectations accordingly. You can still do that and also show the great games that ARE coming out within the next 2 years. And after E3 they should also do dev diaries. I know some do it but I hope every studio does them. Seeing Ninja Theory’s new studio and tour was awesome, seeing Melina and her training was awesome (this also creates hype for the gameplay because you have an idea of what they’re going for). I want more of that and from every studio. Remember South Parks 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park. Bungie back in the Halo days used to do it so well as well.

I was thinking the same thing. On one hand, I love E3. On the other hand, I think doing it like you mentioned is much better. Whenever, say Avowed is ready, do a SOP type of event just for Avowed that month where all the focus is just on Avowed. Then next month it’s maybe Everwild, focus that month just on that game. That gives the teams the room to breath and show the game whenever they’re ready to fully show it and it gives each game also a lot of attention for longer periods. E3 is fun for me, selfishly, but a lot of games get drowned in that type of event.

The games themselves are the showcase.

I wish the entire games industry was less secretive. I love seeing big reveals, but I wouldn’t miss a lot of the angst that surrounds these types of events.

The message is that you should jump into the Xbox ecosystem and you do that mainly with games that look amazing to play, and this E3 should hopefully be just that. The fact that Xbox has prioritised game play will help that.

I have not, but great to see others are thinking the same way.

BGS games never have really been graphical showcases, they certainly have their moments but for me it’s the total package. And the fact that the engine has received a big overhaul and a brand new animation system is very exciting. The latest leaked screenshots show a real significant improvement visually, especially the lighting. And that was from a 2018 build. Really looking forward to seeing it soon.

Actually Wasteland 3 is very good packed AA game. Their next new IP is going to be AAA.

Their game is years away still, they’ll grow a lot, and time/money > people anyway.

Their team size is fine for now.
