Xbox Game Studios |OT4| This is for Studio talk. Studios. It's the Studios OT. Studio talk here (Part 1)

Probably not a super hot take, but I don’t mind if things like an Obsidian FO or a Banjo Kazooie reboot never happen, as original ideas are just as good if not better 100% of the time.

Well my inc with the game is the humor is not satire about the world or anything it’s more like:

“Haha look how dumb this person is he has nothing to eat and still worship the company’s LOL” Imo this is not funny. I don’t even know if this was the message they wanted to achieve.

For me from what I played the main joke in this game was look how dumb those normal humans are and how easy the companies tricked them LOLZ I have no idea if they evolve this later on but this what I got from what I played

A great example for great humor I think is Wolfenstein The New Order. While still making fun of some nazi soldiers it was still great to make you really fear the enormous force the nazis are and how brutal it leaders are. While having a great dark humor the game still was believable in its setting.

(Something I very much missed in the new Colossus)

If you like it good on you I have plenty to look forward too. Not everything can serve anyone.

When I played The Outer Worlds on Game Pass I didn’t finish it… It was an all around ok game though. One thing I do appreciate about it though is how polished it felt. Usually I would expect bugs and janky controls but it felt really solid to play. Using VATS wasn’t necessary to shoot people.

Okay this might be a hot take but is Fallout 3 one of the jankiest game you’ve ever played? I’ll go back and play NV cuz I liked it but I hope whatever these studios work on doesn’t feel close to whatever the controls were in that game

Response was a bit hyperbolic and uncalled for, sorry Dad

Oh man, as cool as this is I’m sure this is making voice actors very nervous. I don’t think AI actors will completely replace humans…but I could see GTA VII replacing pedestrian VOs with AI for example. Hire a pro for important roles, use a computer for fodder characters. I gotta admit though, this makes me excited for the future of human/AI interaction. Think “Milo” from E3 ten years ago. Or at least that’s where I hope we’re headed.

So this specific tech isnt anything voice actors really need to worry about as this is just synhesising an actual VA’s voice to speak the lines and is just a tool to help ensure that the dialog is realistic.

That being said, there is a tech that does something similar that could worry them, a few weeks back there was a video of a VR tech demo using the OpenAI GPT-3 model to generate dialog and a voice on the fly for a character. Now GPT-3 is very very powerful and is the cutting edge in AI research and funnily enough MS have the exclusive liscense to use it after they invested about a billion dollars into it.

OH! I thought this WAS AI generated speech. I was blown away by the clarity and tone. Ha, my mistake. But still very impressive none the less. I’m reading up on GPT-3 now. I remember hearing about MS’s deal but didn’t think much of it due to ignorance on the topic. It sounds awesome and scary all in the same breath.

“Finally, we find that GPT-3 can generate samples of news articles which human evaluators have difficulty distinguishing from articles written by humans.”

This is not the Milo I wanted.

So Iv never played prey. I ended buying fallout 4 and I was like this game seems cool I just wish it was 60 fps so I shelved it. I felt like it would get some kind of official update at some point so I am excited to try all these games now. I have so many games to play because of gamepass. Now Im hearing outriders mite be there day 1 now. Crazy Times

I know people were thinking The Ascent but that’s already been confirmed for Game Pass day one. So yeah, I definitely think that it’s Outriders.

When is the Ascent tho? I really want to play it

no idea, but I’m thinking it’s May.

If I had to guess, I would say late Spring/early Summer.

Look at Kena for PS5. It was originally a launch title and heavily rumored for March and yet, it’s being released on August 24th. I’m expecting something similar to happen to The Ascent. Small teams need more time.

I just hope it releases this year and that it’s real good because The Ascent is day one for me.

The game looks rad. I’m trying to go into blackout mode on it for the most part, it’s one of the games I’m most looking forward to this year and it’ll be awesome to see a new developer on the scene do something great.

Watching the XboxEra podcast and Grubb says that March 26th could have a few smaller AA/Indie titles. I’m hoping for The Ascent, Bright Memory Infinite and Crossfire X campaign.

Can’t say I’m particularly excited about either Bright Memory or Crossfire X, but I’m hoping to be surprised and want my opinion to be swayed. The Gunk (terrible name) and Tunic look like my jam though. Image & Form is a legit talented dev.

I’m hyped for Bright Memory Infinite and looking forward to the Crossfire X campaign because it’s Remedy and im looking at is as my replacement filler for COD/BF this generation.
