Xbox Game Studios |OT4| This is for Studio talk. Studios. It's the Studios OT. Studio talk here (Part 1)

Hey don’t get me wrong, I 1000% agree with you, all the way. But those are some of the takes here. That basically undoing all the hard work for PS5 is not what a developer would like and MS might decide to stick with it. If work on PS5 is almost done or fully done it be a waste to throw it away. It doesn’t work like that etc, that’s also what I got from Brad’s video. Brad says:

There’s not going to be extreme exclusivity on day one, it’s going to take time for this stuff to materialize. You got to think about this, that they just spent 7 billion dollars. Xbox and Phil Spencer are now have to justify this purchase now that they’ve made it to the board of directors, to shareholders, to a lot of people about why spending that kind of money was worth it.

For example if they go in and they have a title and Bethesda has a title that is almost ready to ship and it’s available on Playstation and Xbox to go in there and just like knife that off and say “nope that’s not happening”, that undermines a couple things. One, the value of the brand because now you just cut off a huge demographic that could buy your content…dude you just made all those people who spent years developing that specific title for that platform just irrelevant. I don’t see MS doing that.

Now they could absolutely take titles that are ready to ship or well along the development path and give them exclusivity in the means of maybe a timed exclusive on Game Pass or Xbox or PC, or give them its own unique DLC or character skins. Something along those lines as they build up those next generation games that are coming down the pipe. You got to remember too, contracts exist. A company like Bethesda is not going to spend millions of dollars to develop a title for say Playstation without an agreement that says "hey when we’re done with this game we’ll be allowed to publish it like that has to exist before you go dump that kind of money into it.

So MS doesn’t want to just cut that contract off because then they’re going to have pay a breach of contract penalty and who knows what may or may not be. "

Nah, it is not like the developers are doing the work of art. In the enterprise you sometimes throw away and rewrite the apps left and right. There is no deep atachment to the code - though you sometimes record some videos for youtube to demo the game just for lulz

I will laugh out hard if stakeholders really think about that…Developers got paid and they will just start doing another work. There is no deep personal attachment to the codebase.

That’s what my thoughts would be, more or less, but I don’t know. Brad does know quite a few things about these things it seems and I have to admit I have no idea about how it really works.

I dont mind it being short tbh

Yay! More news tomorrow I wonder if this is for the event…

All this craziness yesterday and we are still at the same position like last week. Let’s hope tomorrow interviews will give us some snippets :crossed_fingers:

Hope Fallout 4 GOTY edition launches in gamepass haven’t played the DLCs yet.

20-25 h sounds right. That was the length of Mass Effect. If you want me spending more time with a RPG give me options for replay value.

Oh how far we have come when 20-25 hours is considered short now lol. As always, it is all about the vision of the studio and 20-25 hour experience could be really tight with minimal busy work that a lot of open world games fall into.

Well with some games now a days it would be considered short but I agree I didnt mean it to come off as it I dont think the game will be great if that what you think I am really happy it might be 20-25 hours haha Thats why I loved The Outer Worlds cause it wasnt a 40-50 hours game

You think any of the bethesda games that come to gampass this week will have the framerate boost?

So we thinking some Series X|S bumps for games like Dishonored, Wolf and others?

I hope so would be cool

  • I’m sticking with Starfield as March 2022. Give Bethesda Game Studios an extra six months to fine tune and polish up the game. I don’t want it to be a clunky, janky, buggy and glitchy mess like all their games have been. Also, Halo Infinite is guaranteed for November and if I see Starfield releasing in October, that tells me one thing and that is that they have zero confidence in Halo Infinite. Also, Starfield is Bethesda’s first new IP in what 20 or 25 years? You don’t put it anywhere close to Halo Infinite. And before anyone mentions Sony releasing TLOUP2/Tsushima in back to back months, huge differences. First, TLOUP2 was leaked and they didn’t really have much choice and second, Sony wanted to get them out so they start concentrating on PS5. Two completely different situations and scenarios.

  • I would love a solid tight 30 hour RPG from InXile instead of being 100+ hours with so much padding and filler that you skip majority of it.

Yea and putting starfield in spring won’t leave a drought after the holidays

This too.

Didnt stop reviewers from making Cyberpunk a 90 rated game so I dont think people care as long as its fun and fairly polished. A glitch/bug here and there on a massive open-world with hundreds of systems running is impossible to squash out. Also get the feeling you dont play many BGS games cause they are all like that.

Not like suddenly under the Microsoft banner every bug is gone just like that. Also we dont know anything about the state of the game.

I’m preparing for that news. But do you personally still expect a deep dive of it this summer? It kinda goes against their ways of marketing it since Fallout 4, but I also don’t see a deep dive early next year. God I hope if it is planned for next year it’s really early next year.

Anything is possible though, Matty and a few others recently said as of now 2021 was still the plan, for release.
