Outer World’s - are the DLC free like Gears 5 with GPU, or do we need to lay for them?

The cannot because of the deals they do for cars and soundtracks, I think. Which sucks. I have a Series S and cannot buy+play FH2/3 unless I buy it illegally from a shady store. (About £20 each for base games which you cannot buy the DLC for any more.)

I hope Germany is the next one for just one reason - FH6 will be “true next gen” and that should be in Japan.

They’re not free but I think that’s partly because Microsoft isn’t the publisher for The Outer Worlds. That said I’m not sure MS has been all that consistent with whether a Game Pass subscription will include DLC for first party titles or not.

It’s only been Gears 5 Hivebusters I’m pretty sure. All other DLCs I can think of are paid.

Minecraft Dungeons and Master Chief Collection haven’t been paid, have they? We’re probably still a bit early in the process to know their plans for sure (if they even know them yet). However, no one should expect third-party publishers to provide DLC for free, for the most part.

Yup! Nothing’s confirmed there yet.

Gears 5 has been like a testing bed for xbox.

  1. They applied series X specific technologies on that game (vrs2.0, 4k 120 FPS).

  2. Made auto HDR via that game.

  3. Released its DLC on GPU

Maybe Microsoft will now have some stats to decide whether or not to release DLC on GPU.

Gears for sure was a test bed along with Minecraft Dungeons was another test, they probably are trying to back to back and see how the numbers stack up. I still think they should do some jigging and make a tier that includes DLC.

Minecraft D released its DLC for GPU? I didn’t know. I thought there expansion was free for all🤔

Edit:

Also, what will become of Gold after free to play games are free? Adding first party DLCs could be enticing for the service. And also the GPU can alao get a push on PC. I will sub GPU on PC just to get play DLC from time to time.

Nope they are paid, that’s why I’m saying they’re testing paid VS included with GP:U with Gears.

If their goal is to keep people subscribed, including DLC (campaign kind of stuff) in GPU would be an excellent way to fill in the gaps between game releases.

Agree.

I want them to add them to GPU, otherwise DLCs tend to get ignored otherwise like episodic content. Tell Me Why was a success because of Gamepass, I would suspect.

Exactly, DLC is a lot easier to make too and much cheaper than building a brand new game. This is actually what I see Halo Infinite doing, have the big launch base game and have big expansions which include SP content + new MP content.

I guess once they start to see a decline in numbers they could release another big base game and hype it up like ‘Halo Infinite 2’ then do the same thing.

On some quick other news, just saw this. I know some people have started to think Halo Infinite is going to get delayed but I don’t think so. (no bloody way)

It was based on an innocent Jason Schrier tweet. Some people (blue team fanbois) went overboard with that information.

It was clear from the monthly updates from 343 that they are ready.

At least the most recent DLCs in Minecraft Dungeons are paid (excluding that free update). Halo Reach and ODST were paid add ons to the MCC (I remember paying for those, but that was before Game Pass I think).
