There was good stuff in the Avengers, but the format was really misguided. I wonder if those decisions were made above their heads. But even with all the bullshit, I still mostly like it.

I think Jez knew of the 2018 talks. Zenimax trying to sell was common knowledge. MS trying to buy was insider knowledge in 2018. MS resuming talks summer 2020 was a complete surprise.

I started playing Sea of Thieves with my friend and I have to say it’s a ton a fun right now. I was turned off by it in 2019, but at this moment it has become my multiplayer choice with friends. And it does have a ton of depth although initially it may not look like it.

The progression system with the Battle Pass is satisfying and incredibly generous. Coming from Apex Legends, the BP on that game is such a slow grind. In SoT I already have 40 levels in around a week of daily play.

Great job, Rare. Can’t wait for Everwild if it’s gonna be as fun as this.

I dont know how far in advance he knew but he definently knew before the announcenment on the morning of. He had a fairly lengthy article on windows central that was posted like 30 seconds after the official announcement.

Whether that means he knew the day before or a month before I dont kno.

He did say that he had heard that xbox was ‘hunting their moby dick’ but didnt know who they meant by that, that was roughly a month prior to the announcement.

There were definitely rumours of something before the announcement, Jeff Grubb, a week prior to the announcement on his games beat decides podcast said that xbox was ‘spending a ton of money on something that wasnt an acquisition’ Obviously it turned out to be an acquisition, but rumours of something big happening were definitely out there.

  1. Ori Will of the Wisps is gorgeous
  2. Some of the mechanics can feel so dumb at times
  3. Game didnt quick resume or go to standby while I shared a clip so it restarted.

The other big game has to be Forza Horizon 5. I still want to know what Global publishing has cooking as well, because the only game in the works that we know of is As Dusk Falls and that may not even come out this year.

  2. I think MS will continue talks but doesn’t have any “planned” for the next few months at least. That said, I suspect they will remain agile and may make a defensive acquisition if necessary in the short term. Asobo selling a minority stake to a tech investment fund doesn’t mean a ton to MS or their relationship, DONTNOD is publically listed so there is nothing they can do about buying a stake. That said, if Tencent or Amazon attempts a hostile takeover of say, EA or 2K I suspect MS will get involved to stop it. If Tencent, Netease or Amazon tried to buy Bungie, I suspect MS will at least make an offer. Finally, if someone like WB goes back up on the market, I suspect MS will consider and bid as appropriate.
