There are no facts with this. You put too much belief in insiders. An acquisition the size of Bethesda takes time to assimilate and incorporate. Its business, the idea they will buy Sega, Ubi, WB anytime soon is ridiculous

No insider knew about Bethesda, but it’s easy for anyone to say it now because MS have admitted to looking for new acquisitions. The insiders will know at the same time as us.

True but why should Jez lie about it ? He is already one of the most trustworthy Xbox insider. I think the problem is that no insider has the documents which clearly stated that something is acquired.

GiantBomb and Vice Gaming expected a bigger acquisition from Microsoft after the E3 2018 show. Turns out the rumour was that Microsoft is acquiring Capcom but they made so much money from Monster Hunter World and stopped the acquisition.

That’s my first time hearing about a capcom buyout. I do remember a lot of games media saying they had heard crazy rumours during that time. Bethesda stuff has probably been in the works since then.

PlayStation even has localization in Croatian language. So they localize for a country of 4 millions of people! Even if we count some of the neighboring countries, that’s max 15 millions of people, while Microsoft doesn’t bother with very big regions.

Opening to more regions than traditional ones is what Microsoft needs now. They’ve got plenty of studios, two good consoles, now make all of that more approachable to other regions. Having stores, localizations, etc is what’s needed.

Here I am from a small country with a language spoken by about 10m people, and i hate localizations Games in my native language sound silly and so does things like movie dubs etc. Not much of that here though, only for young children thankfully.

But of course there should be options, like subs and UI/menu in other languages for those who are interested. Works great in games like Yakuza where I don’t understand Japanese but prefer to have Japanese VA and english subs/UI.

Options is never bad.

…crease would have easily got through and had the desired affect of pushing subs to GPU and not pissing the vast majority of the fanbase off. “It” in the grand scheme of things refers to pushing people to GPU, building the exosystem and getting people hooked on the “biggest value in gaming”, to do this they need to do two key things:

Show the value - The aim of the Gold increase was this, by comparing the prices you pay for gold vs the price you pay for GPU it shows GPU has much better value, but they did overreach her where a 20% increase would have done the job Provide something to keep them hooked - This is Bethesda and every XGS studio, you arent going to be hooked if you can buy these games from a rival so they HAVE to be exlusive and both Phil and Satya are clever enough to know this.

ITT: more arguing and bickering among fans of the same platform rather than discussion about Xbox Studios.

On topic: I can’t wait for Psychonauts 2 and what comes next from Double Fine. The more I see of Tim Schafer, the more I root for the guy and his team. He’s just a good dude, cares about his craft, and wants to do things that are outside the box. I think gaming needs more minds like him with funding to back it up. More of this effort should come from the “AAA” space rather than being solely the domain/risk of indies. Xbox is lucky to have Double Fine, truly unique talent and minds in the industry.

Good on you to bring the forum back to its senses.

I agree, Psychonauts 2 is looking very very cool. Double Fine is amazingly creative. Hope Tim has an expansion plan to implement his ideas.

3B player, needs more languages…

I thought about this before but never posted it here. Zenimax may help Xbox in localizing their first party titles better. Bethesda Japan, Europe, Russia, Nordic and Middle East can turn into localization teams for the rest of XGS studios, previously they worked for any games published by Bethesda. Microsoft should absolutely never close any of the Bethesda regional, support or QA teams.

Yeah, CD and Eidos are the only parts SE would sell. Their Japanese studios are still big money makers for them unlike those two
