Oh lotta people still think it’s actually a given. Another example :

  • All Bethesda games 1 year exclusive for Xbox

  • immediately on Game Pass

  • Or buy it in the store

  • After one year it also comes to other systems, but for the full price that Sony wants. 80 euros, 70 dollars.

  • Right when that happens significantly lower the price of the Xbox versions.

He says that this way they get max profits and they can still go with the “inclusive” thing. With that he means Xbox bringing their games to other systems in the past, which really only were a few.

He then went on to say that if they don’t do this they’ll approximately lose out on almost 400m per game. With 18m GP subscribers you aren’t going to be able to finance tens of AAA Bethesda titles. He says for service games its not exactly ideal to limit your user base off the bat.

He said that MS for years has been preaching about inclusivity and the taking down of walls and that he expects they will do exactly this. This guy clearly misses the point. Spencer multiple times said as long as they are in their ecosystem. According to this person you just can’t expect that PS and Nintendo owners all will start to play these games on PC.

Possibly the first years Xbox will go with exclusivity to then slowly let loose of it more. Likely they will test the waters and see how many owners of Switch and PS will make the switch to Xbox.

The guy makes some valid points, but misses at several others. It’s really anyone’s guess at this point but this “they are all about being Inclusive” is way taken out of context.

Who are you referring to exactly?

The same Dutch gaming forum I was on yesterday when a discussion started about Bethesda, again. This discussion was sparked by the information we got yesterday about how Xbox is doing now.

And this person chimed in.

Never trust a Dutchman…

Yeah this has nothing to do with “inclusivity” as MS uses the term, maybe he used the wrong word to express himself. Making Bethesda games accessible to more ppl with some kind limitation would meet MS inclusivity targets (that would be great btw), not making their games available in other platforms.

Hey rustig aan he

True that!

Some folks keep going with this that the taking down of walls and being inclusive means everyone gets to play all the Xbox games. They never ever meant it like that though. If that were the case Hellblade would still be a multiplatform franchise, Avowed would come to PS5 and so on.

However, a few other things the guy said do fall in line with what the CFO said last year. We all have our own interpretation of that, but still.

great effort from a small aa team

Well If rumors of Sony buying square are true I would expect Sony to bring those games to xbox then since that is how things work now.

I would tend to agree as it was reported that bonuses for the executive staff are partially tied to gamepass subscribers.

Plus, most businesses don’t really look at an acquisition as “well we bought Zenimax, but we can only pay that off with income generated by Xbox” They are looking to see if each sector is profitable but Microsoft bought Zenimax and they more then made it back this quarter. Zenimax will be folded into Xbox and as long as it conitnues growth and profitability they will be happy.

They aren’t looking at things as we paid 7.5 billion dollars how many game pass subs pays for this. If anything Satya is looking at is as make this exclusive so we get more subscribers so I get a bigger bonus. As that’s how most anyone in his situation would look at it.
