Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

No offense taken. I’m not CrapGamer so what do I care? lmao.

What exactly is the entire Phil/Crap twitter thing? I only joined Twitter in April 2019 so anything before then, I don’t have a clue about.

MBG can go either way. At times, he’ll be a rabid fanboy but at other times, he’ll praise and defend Xbox as well. I don’t follow CrapGamer as he was too much for me.

PlayStation wise, I follow - PSV_MMXX (regular PlayStation fanatic, not a YouTuber), MBG, Hunter (favors PlayStation by far but also owns an Xbox Series X) and FoxyGames (same as Hunter).

Xbox wise, I follow - Klobrille, Rand Al Thor 19, Jez Corden, TimDog, Dealer Gaming, Colt Eastwood, Iron Lords Podcast, Lord Cognito and Lord Soverign. I also follow Spencer and Greenberg.

In general, I have Mr. Matty Plays, ACG, jayvee, JorRaptor and Benji-Sales.

Out of those I follow, 80+ out of 100 are simply official game accounts like Assassin’s Creed, Cyberpunk, etc., publishers like Ubisoft, Square Enix, etc. and development studios like The Initiative, 343, etc.

I mainly follow the official stuff for the games that im interested in playing and buying. The Xbox/PlayStation guys is more just to see rumors, potential acquisitions, speculation and just to see different opinions on games and whatnot. The only PS/Xbox guy I talk to on a regular basis is PSV_MMXX.

For me personally, I always favor the brand/platform that happens to be my primary gaming console for that individual generation (this gen, it’s Xbox, last gen was PS4, two gens ago was 360) but I will still own both consoles because there will always be exclusives that I want to play on the other platform and im not the type to be completely “one sided”. Like, fuck that, if there’s games I want to play on the other platform, I will do so.

Apologies for the off-topic post. Just wanted to clarify why I follow certain YouTubers and whatnot.

Nobody should follow MBG, JayDub, CrapGamer, or Saltiest. They’re toxic twitter trolls. They feed on hate and negativity.

Then when something serious happens, they fall back on “We’re just clowning man. It’s a persona”.

Grifters who make money off of people who hate Xbox.

Now back to the topic at hand…

BACK TO DANCING.

Hey folks can we get back on track? Let’s not worry too much about toxic gaming twitter.

Also, as to my comment in Rand’s chat

I’m kinda surprised this somehow became…news?

Like LucasFilm is obviously shopping around their IP as they just announced news games by completely different studios. Plenty of devs and publishers would be in talks about trying to snap up rights to make one.

What was your comment? I haven’t watched the podcast yet.

People thirsting for KOTOR III/The High Republic RPG. This looks like a good a chance as any.

Jason S says that if a Star Wars RPG is going to be made, he’s pretty sure it’s not getting made by EA.

SO EVERYBODY BACK TO DANCING.

I basically said Microsoft are in talks about trying to license LucasFilm Games IPs. But like…almost everyone would be. I’m sure Sony probably are too. I’m sure tonnes of devs and publishers would be.

I have no idea why this is being framed as “news”

I think its just that someone ‘in the know’ said its happening, although logically it obviously is happening getting something from someone who has leaked/teased things in the past makes it seem more real I guess?

If you could pick what first party studio would choose to do a lucasfilm ip? (aside from machine games doing indy and obsidian doing kotor/star wars rpg)

I see talking but I don’t see dancing.

(>0_0)> KOTOR 3/The High Republic by Xbox Game Studios ! (>0_0)>

Nice. They should try to resurrect Star Wars 1313 which looked amazing 8 years ago. Imagine now. Oh man. Yeah, a lot of publishers are definitely going to jump on the LucasFilm Games wagon because they’re very popular right now. Plus, if it’s Sony, you know they will make sure the game is exclusive so im hoping that Microsoft does exactly the same.

I mean, outside the obvious Obsidian/KOTOR pairing which I doubt could happen with how busy Obsidian are, I’d like:

  • Turn 10/Playground > Pod Racer 2
  • InXile > The Mandalorian (if a game were to happen)
  • Ninja Theory > Force Unleashed 3

Interesting fun fact about ninja theory, they released a star wars game in 2019! the vadar immortal game on the oculus platform. So maybe they are the most likely to do a lucasfilm game.

I forgot about that.

That’s a connection into Lucasfilm for sure. Damn…

That’s why I listed them. They made DmC as well.

I feel they could easily pull off an incredible Force Unleashed game.

I’ve heard some people suggesting Turn 10 has multiple teams with one working on a non racing IP, where is that coming from and has there been any evidence like job listings that would suggest that?

There were a few job postings for things like a narrative director and several writing positions, I’m going to speculate that they are more involved with fable than was initially thought, and are actually codeveloping it with playground, not just doing work on the engine.

There’s no need for XGS to work on multiple Star Wars games lol, one in addition to Indiana Jones would already be pushing it IMO.

well well,

(paraphrasing)

lucasfilm was excited to work with ninja theory and had wanted to for a while, … and ninja theory revamped the light saber combat system in disney infinity 3.0 in 2015.

From the linked article

Fighting The Clone Wars: Ninja Theory’s Take On Star Wars - Game Informer

maybe a clone wars game from ninja theory? lucasfilm likes them, so shouldnt be too hard a sell

This. Overdependence on external IP would not be wise. Focus on growing IP that MS has complete control over. I don’t mind if like Obsidian does KOTOR in addition to Avowed, Grounded etc. but I don’t want to see like five big XGS teams working on licensed games
