Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

How we could think it is a maybe gamepass, I mean, why did they buy Bethesda in first place then? this should the worst scenario - gamepass day one. I think it coming to gamepass day one should be a 100% sure, not a maybe. Maybe ppl is trying to lower down expectations on the exclusivity (I get it), but not coming to gamepass day one, it would be an absolute failure.

Deals like this can be altered depending on how early it is.

I mean we’re talking about a game that could not possibly see the like of day until 2024-2026.

You can easily make a new deal involving the IP, the License, and GamePass and platforms.

Disney never mandates platforms according to what I’ve been told by several people, that’s up to the developers, or so I’ve been told.

Medium-Case Scenario: 12 months exclusive to Xbox ecosystem, Day 1 on GamePass with huge marketing push.

Worst-Case: Scenario: Day 1 multiplat; Day 1 GamePass with Xbox as lead development platform with marketing push and special edition consoles. It would be exclusive that people though “Destiny 1” was exclusive to PS4 when it first launched.

Yeah, I hear ya. I honestly thought Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo would be the last games that they had to honor the deals for, but now this. At this rate it will be a while before this Bethesda studio is solely focused on Xbox.

Someone on Twitter argued that if this is the case, Starfield will be the same. This person forgets though that Indy is a deal between LucasFilm Games and Zenimax. That’s not the case for Starfield.

it really depends on the deal i guess, i mean ghostwire is not coming to GP day one on console.

But i agree, the game is far enough away that XGS must be able to buy a Day one GP deal aleast.

We don’t know that Ghostwire PC and Deathloop PC aren’t coming day 1 on PC GamePass because Microsoft hasn’t finalized the deal yet.

PC GP has a chance but Console i doubt it

Machine Games has 20 positions open already, expect that to grow. They could grow quite a bit for this effort which can only benefit Xbox moving forward.

Right because Microsoft still has to legally have them be timed PS exclusives that were put in place. When that deal is over and they’re ported over to Xbox, they will be day one on GamePass.

The only reason Deathloop and Ghostwire aren’t Day 1 on GamePass this year is because they don’t come out this year for Xbox Series consoles. You can thank Sony for that.

While they don’t speak clearly ppl will speculates, which sucks. It is time to Xbox be bold, why they should care with ppl backlash, if this same ppl has been alienating the brand for 7 years already. Furthermore, the game will be on PC, mobile. or whatever for ppl that doesn’t want to play on Xbox. How is the better way to break this wall of “Xbox cannot have exclusives”? it is bringing exclusives till this ppl accepts it.

i dont think it’s coming to PC game pass alongside the ps5 release either, because Gamepass is xbox ecosystem, something the deal probably explicitly disallowed from releasing day 1. PC release would probably just be Steam or Epic store, but not gamepass because even though it’s gamepass on PC, it’s still Xbox.

thats the point it all depends on the deal and how legally binding it is, we are all just guessing at the moment. but i would bet that we at the very least get it GP Day one

yeah, i have no idea?

Spiderman can be exclusive but Indiana Jones gotta have 50 conditionals attached to it.

Okay

That’s true.

Honestly, if it IS a multiplatform game, so be it. As long as it’s Game Pass day one. After all it’s a XGS game. I do hope at some point this stops though and that Xbox is the full focus.

Going by what Klobrille said it sounds like the deal between Zenimax and Lucas was made before the Bethesda acquisition. In that case Xbox can’t do anything about that.

I do hope with future licensed games made by XGS that they can change that though. Agree to have one of their studios make the game, but exclusively for Xbox ecosystem. Otherwise…Just odd.

No two deals are the same. Spider-man was a case of Marvel going to Sony and stating “pick a hero”, then Sony approached Insomniac. J Stevenson explained it a couple of times on Resetera, it’s just wilful ignorance to suggest otherwise at this point, as it makes sense Marvel would do such a thing given PS4’s dominance in the console space last-gen.

I think this Indiana Jones deal was definitely at least in the works before Bethesda got bought out, so it really depends on what was agreed upon when they signed it off. We’ll see, but I’m leaning towards exclusive, but in any case, it’ll be on Game Pass day one.

I find it funny that you’re all talking whether it’s going to be an exclusive or not, and even going as far as wondering whether it’ll be on gamepass day one! LOL!

If this was a Sony studio, or soon to be Sony studio 100% noone would have any doubts and noone would care that it’s a licenced game.

You really think that Microsoft would fund the game, like 90% of it and still not be able to get it on gamepass day1 or as an exclusive game? The Outer Worlds was mostly done when Microsoft announced the acquisition and that game was still on gamepass day 1.

I find it really sad that even enthusiast Xbox fans are having such conversations, and even so called insiders who cover Xbox.

Anyway, I’m really excited for this game, exclusive or not, as I really like 3rd person action adventure games. I hope Microsoft gives them as much money as needes to make it a fantastic game.

Very interesting that MachineGames is making this, this is one of the last studios of XGS that I expected to make a Indy game. Since they seem to be mostly familiar with first person shooters. Or can we actually expect a first person Indy game? Haha, naw, no way. But for sure a surprising bit of news.
