Xbox Game Studios |OT2| It's pronounced "Krayg" not "Kreg"

Don’t worry. When MS brings it back it will have all the hallmarks of a “great game”. Forced walking sections Lots of talking Super serious/pretentious story where everyone is sad all the time Some form morality pet to escort Maybe one of the super agents breaks out a guitar mid game and does an acoustic rendition of "Like a Virgin " or some shit. GOTY!

Nah give it to saints row devs or let the IP Die

Yep this is the most interesting things about RDNA2 or the Series hardware IMO. Not just for upscaling. Having efficient ML capabilities creates a lot of possibilities. Both locally and in the cloud.

Exactly, the most interesting and overlooked aspect of the Series consoles.

I believe the acceleration comes from having hardware support for lower precision math.

“We knew that many inference algorithms need only 8-bit and 4-bit integer positions for weights and the math operations involving those weights comprise the bulk of the performance overhead for those algorithms,” says Andrew Goossen. “So we added special hardware support for this specific scenario. The result is that Series X offers 49 TOPS for 8-bit integer operations and 97 TOPS for 4-bit integer operations. Note that the weights are integers, so those are TOPS and not TFLOPs. The net result is that Series X offers unparalleled intelligence for machine learning.”

Guess that doesn’t make it clear that it is not dedicated hardware, but pretty sure it is not. Note that a 2080ti has 216 TOPS in 8-bit.

Still, I don’t think it is enough to say there is no dedicated hardware. Ultimately, we will have to see about that, but I expect great things from ML.

Nope. Terry Crews’ Agent Jax needs to be a sad Dad, and half the game needs to take place in a forest. No GOTY otherwise. /s

Those are the games the devs want to make, and those aren’t the only games those devs are working on. For instance, Obsidian are working on Grounded (a survival sim) and Avowed an RPG… And Turn 10 is actually branching out from making racing games to make Fable. Really poor argument.

People like Sony’s 3P action-adventure games because they’re very high quality in everything thing they do, Character and world design, animation, enjoyable gameplay (easier for mass appeal).

When was the last Xbox game that had animations comparable to TLOU2 or Spiderman, Gears is the only one in my opinion. It’s easy to see why these games are nominated for GOTY awards regularly. The importance of GOTY games shouldn’t be understated either, they push FOMO on the casuals, look PS has the best games of year that I can’t get on Xbox or PC.

In the last 7 years the GOTY has been won by 4 action-adventure games, 2 ARGS and one 1 FPS game. Xbox is very well covered in these genres, maybe a little more investment in 3P action-adventure games (depending on what genres the unannounced games fill)

I agree with this.

Xbox has a wide range of genres which is great but they still need a few third person story driven action adventure games to round it all out. They do that and all of their games are of high quality, they will be on one hell of a roll. We just need to see if that actually happens.

I don’t know why we need two consoles that do the same thing. PlayStation is right there for people who want it.

Game of the year awards are like the Teen Choice Awards, they don’t mean jack.

Do you thing MS is ok with letting PS dominate the 3P AA genre? Obviously not, I’m just saying having these types of games is important too for mass appeal, not saying this is what MS should solely focus on.

First off, I agree on the quality part. Playing my PS5 now there is so much good stuff, like Spidey. However, I also get the frustration among Xbox fans as MS deserves recognition for their games that they don’t get. Same in many ways with Nintendo.

Ori and MSFS scored as high if not a point lower than TLOU but games with ratings in the mid to low 80s got nominated because of their genre.

Last year Gears 5 was snubbed, but Control and Death Standing which reviewed worse got in.

2018 Forza Horizon 4 was among the best reviewed games of the year… Assassin’s Creed 13 got the nom.

2017 was kinda a bad year for MS. No comment there.

2016, competitive year but no FH3 nom.

2015, again with Ori.

Microsoft is making fantastic games but they rarely get the love they deserve. That’s not to say that Sony doesn’t deserve most of their noms, they do, but the fact MS’s games get overlooked because of their genre pisses me off. It’s like when Dark Knight was snubbed for the Oscar in 2008, and the Academy upped the nominees to 10. 6 is not enough if oftentimes the nominees are going to be the same genre.

Yeah, 3P action-adventure games are becoming the equivalent of Oscar bait movies. 3p AA is not necessary to win GOTY but you have a way better shot at winning it then if it were a racing, Metroid Vania or even FPS.

There’s a difference between doing a few games like Sony does and doing every game like Sony does. Everyone here talks about diversity and whatnot…well, that includes having third person story driven action adventure games included in that lineup of diverse games and genres.

Also, just because you don’t like them or prefer them doesn’t mean that Microsoft/Xbox shouldn’t do a few of these types of games. I’m not into Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, Grounded, Bleeding Edge, etc. but I would never say to not do them because games that aren’t for me, I simply ignore and choose the games that are for me.

Do I believe that Crackdown needs an entire generation break? Absolutely. It can come back next generation rebooted and try to revitalize the franchise. Releasing another one so soon after Crackdown 3 would only do more harm than good in my opinion.

MS is making a lot of RPGs and Shooters these two something Sony don’t have.

literally the only TPS action adventure (Sony games according to this thread) from MS are Hellblade 2 and Gears 6 if they leaned more to cinematic like gears 5 and unnecessary levels.

This has nothing to do with anything I said. You don’t have to respond to a post of mine EVERY DAY to say “I don’t like the games you like!!!” We get it. Ugh.
