I don’t understand why people keep bringing up the second point. ESO is not in ultimate so why would a more successful MMO?
It just doesn’t make business sense as WoW has been developed with a specific business model in mind. Maybe the expansions go into Game Pass but the subscription won’t.
Safe to assume that no game with a required subscription will have that sub rolled into Game Pass. Many of those subs cost as much as Game Pass does. It’s kind of an unrealistic request.
Unknown whether ZOS next game will have a similar pricing model, I doubt it since it seems kinda old school.
Something that might be possible is half price subscriptions to games like that with Game Pass membership. It would encourage people to be in Game Pass Ultimate and make them feel valued, but not completely upend the subscription income for ESO / WoW. Might also be a way to get more people to join and stay part of those games as well. But that does seem unlikely even if it would be cool.
When a game has many expansions, it make sense to offer the base game or include it in gamepass and let the expansions be paid. it happened already with Forza Horizon 4 for example.
Beyond gamepass, it happens very often with game bundles, when you barely pay for Tekken 7 (this week Namco bundle) but the DLC cost many more than the base game.
This is like one of my top wants to be honest. I mean, I could play it on PC, but for some reason the thought of playing it on my Xbox on my big OLED TV makes it more interesting to me!
IPs in general, their line up from a western PoV is unrivalled at this point, like the list is absurd
Strong across all platforms and overall strong ecosystem, this will only get better as mobile starts playing a role
Communication with fans, this is basically non-existent with other pubs while xbox it feels like Phil/Sarah and others are constantly talking with the players and people online
Weakness
Localisation, they really need to get better at this if they want to appeal worldwide
Asian support, while it’s understandable they don’t get everything by default like PS it’s still a weakness and something they can continue to work on, they have made major strides though
While their first party is insane from a western standpoint, all they have from Asia right now is Tango and while they are great and have massive potential, it’s way too little for an area that pumps out so much quality every year, they need to start investing heavily in Asia and I think an Asian publisher is inevitable
Weak presence in areas like EU/Japan and others, obviously there’s various reasons for these things whether it was not having the content, not doing enough work in those areas and letting Sony take over as the default, not marketing enough etc, definitely something to work on
Those would be the ones of the top of my head but I’m sure there’s more on both sides
The difference is you don’t need the sub to play ESO(it also gives us access to all expansions), you do to play Wow. So having Wow on game pass makes no sense if we can’t even play it without another sub.
This is also a source of weakness. Sony communication is much more controlled, whereas most bad articles on Xbox are coming from twisted distorsion of Phil numerous interviews.
