Studio Director’s Letter: 2025 & Beyond - The Elder Scrolls Online

The gist of it all is ESO is moving away from the yearly chapters, although the write about 2025 makes it seem like chapters will still happen just not every year. Introduce 3-6 months seasons that will focus on stories, events and other areas of the game in the zones and dungeons already in place.

Zos is going to mess around with the difficulty of the overworld: pretty much going to add Craglorn like difficulty to zones, so some areas will be easier while other areas in a zone will be harder. Of course, currently because of just how far the power creep has reached, Craglorn isn’t exactly a difficult area for a solo player.

Zos is going to try to get Cyrohell connection issues under control, part of it will be to make PvP specific skills for all classes? I don’t know how that will work, but I also think they need to restrict the sets that can be used in PvP in some way. Maybe have battlespirit nerf all the non PvP sets.

They’re also working on improving combat: animation, feel, FX, maybe audio. Personally, I think it would be hilarious, that after years of people complaining about animation cancelling. Zos makes it so that the full animation has to play, and everyone gets a massive nerf because the extra time needed between light attacking, skill usage and bar swapping. I could see so many of the animation cancelling is garbage and looks bad people rage at having been nerfed because they need to wait for every single animation LOL!

I think these changes are going to be the biggest ones, and Zos plans to have more information for us in April 2025.

I’m super excited for Everwild it’s the game I’m most looking forward to in the world

I also see a lot of people wondering what Everwild is, I don’t claim to know everything but the developers have spoken vaguely about its concept and its inspirations and the journalists have simply said that Rare had no idea what the game was, only that’s false Everwild has never been rebooted, the artistic direction, the universe, the characters and creatures have remained the same and the concept behind the game is identical (only a few gameplay features have undoubtedly been modified but not the basis of the game.) Now here is what we know about Everwild.

Everwild is an open world but not in the way you mean with combat and stuff… it’s an open world that’s about taking care of a world that’s threatened by ecological disasters. Namely the insects that move around the world Devour the vegetation and make the land barren.

Which could result in drying up rivers and other watering holes where the creatures of this world go to drink. We will then start with land unfit for life.

Like Viva Pinãta when we start a new garden the soil is completely arid, the role of the Eternals will be to restore the ecosystem of this world and bring life again.

Rare points out that each creature in this world has its own way of functioning, for example lizards that stay on rocks at night because the stones are still warm. Rare also gives the example of symbiotic creatures that need other creatures.

(here you can see the lizards on the hot rock because of the day’s sun)

They give as an example these birds that land on the backs of rhinoceroses that eat parasites. Some creatures that protect the young in their mouths, others that hunt and bring food to their den or others that tear down trees to feed themselves like elephants. The creatures of Everwild are very inspired by the animals of our world.

We still don’t know exactly how Everwild will play if there is construction, survival like Minecraft, if we will have to observe the creatures to create a codex and learn how they work, what they eat, craft recipes and remedies if they get sick, we will also have to take care of the vegetation, could a lightning bolt for example set the forest on fire? There will probably be other ecological threats than insects, perhaps landslides, volcanoes that erupt like in Sea of Thieves, hurricanes or periods of drought, all these are just suppositions.

Rare do some pretty incredible things with the weather conditions of Sea of Thieves, natural disasters erupting volcanoes, earthquakes, boiling water, geysers and all of this directly impacts the gameplay ) Rare also specified that the world of Everwild was filled with stories, traces of ancient civilizations, cultures and deities. This is in broad outline what Everwild is. It is not a game like the others and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together, it’s exciting to have such an innovative game in the medium.

I just finished the game Miside and I was blown away, it’s probably better than Hideo Kojima’s P.T if it had more realistic graphics. I now understand the potential that Ninja Theory’s Project Mara could have.

Hellblade 2 really scared me at some points even though it’s not even a horror game.

at 0:13 this invisible presence reflected in the window is disturbing

If Project Mara manages to have the genius design of Miside with an entity that observes us through reflections and plays with us with a very realistic and immersive aspect, it is possible that Ninja Theory will make the scariest game of all time in a simple apartment.

Can’t watch but browsing through reddit, ad ons are being added to consoles for ESO. I think it will work like creation club, but with more quality of life stuff.
