They have, but some people are incapable of understand what “case by case basis” means.

How many graphically intensive UE5 games out there are running on console at 60fps? I think Immortals of Aveium is struggling to maintain 60fps even with an internal resolution of 720p. I think Robocop does with some pretty significant dips.

Something we might be taking for granted when we set our un compromising expectations for a game like Avowed.

I’ll admit that looking at it I just assumed it’d run 60fps because it’s not that graphically impressive. I think most of us did.

The only one and it’s not out yet I can think of is S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 and it looks way less visually impressive to me than Avowed.

Alan Wake 2 would be it, it has some flaws tho obviously but it’s probably the best UE5 game running at 60 FPS in consoles.

Immortals and Black Myth Wukong look great, but their 60 FPS modes aren’t “real” since it’s just using frame gen, which honestly, could make sense for Avowed since it’s a slower paced game than these two.

I think Alan Wake 2 is on Remedy’s own proprietary engine. But yeah Black Myth definitely cheating lol

Oh true! my bad, yes then, seems like STALKER 2 will be the first demanding UE5 game running at 60 FPS, and from what Digital Foundry just said, seems like it’s doing more than decently o_O

Disappointed Avowed doesn’t have a 60FPS option but im not surprised. Hopefully, they can offer a 60FPS mode since they still have almost six months to continue working and optimizing the game.

Personally I’m a bit surprised because I watched the latest footage and to be honest, some parts looked underwhelming from a visual standpoint, where other parts really looked quite good. Maybe it’s the footage from the stream, but I noticed how some stuff had this hazy/blurry look to them, where it was more sharp in other parts.

Maybe the special effects? But DF certainly wasn’t kidding a few years ago about UE5 and consoles.

To me it’s the lighting (probably UE5’s Lumen) that looks amazing when you have some nice light sources around but can look pretty bland or overly dark in other scenarios.

Yep, exactly that! Immortals of Aveum had this too. In the prologue it looked good with lighting inside houses, but other parts not so much. After the prologue there were moments it was truly stunning, and then not as much.

Immortals has a real 60fps mode. The Frame generation boost it up past 60fps.

Lumen and Nanite kind of remind me when normal maps first came out. Everyone was really inefficient with them at first, but they became great tech matures in workflows and effeciency.

Avowed is interesting because I agree with what you said it looks good (not mind blowing), and even ‘wonky’ in its presentation. Some parts look fantastic and others just not so much. I’m just inquisitive about the polish to come. Things that bothered me was more to do with hit numbers and UI still looked undercooked.

Guess we will see!

They can? It’s just the studios deciding to opt for image quality/content over frame rate.

They could probably drop the resolution to hit 60 but then people would complain about that instead…

It’s going to be exactly the same next gen as well, games are constantly pushing to hit new visual fidelity that the frame rate will always suffer.

I don’t know, we keep hearing this but after a close analysis the games on console are always a mix of lower than low to medium settings with a high setting thrown in on a setting that is costly.

Hilarious, Obsidian went from being a darling to needing 60fps mandate forced on them because one of their games might be 60fps. Ha.

I got to watch the gameplay of Avowed at Gamescom and was very happy with what i had seen.

I picked up this cool looking Avowed pin from the Gear Shop.

Its such a bad game though. Also graphically looks worse than both BMW and alan wake 2

That proves his point, tho? You have to fake 60 fps on console to have good image quality on console with UE5 except maybe for yet to be released STALKER 2

Playground are approaching 500 employees, 484 on LinkedIn. Considerably more than their original plan for 2*200 teams. Very few openings are left now, FH-10 and Fable-15, it used to be 50+.

It feels like Playground are hiding a lot with Fable, 250+ people on the Fable team, probably a 100-200 from Eidos and lots of support studios, it’s a good indicator for scale/scope of the game. We have seen almost nothing about choice impact, there’s room to do a lot of cool stuff there. PG are very good at building hype with gameplay reveals like with FH, hopefully the same happens with Fable.
