Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

One thing is for sure, the wait for Dishonored 3 will be much longer now. In the leaks it showed that it was planned. But I can’t deny I am very curious about Arkane making Blade.

I can see an Xbox next in 2026 with the new gears 6 as a launch title. Or collection. Ue5 games right now are running at 720 all the way down to 480 and then upscale with fsr or dlss.

There are rumours that point in this direction. Xbox would release its next console in 2026, to launch the next generation (as with the 360) and counter Sony’s forthcoming PS5 Pro fairly quickly.

for people not wanting a xitter link Bobby Kotick: With gratitude - Activision Blizzard King

or another headline

Microsoft announces more Xbox leadership changes as Activision’s Bobby Kotick departs - The Verge

–edit—

now back to discussion… as were seeing kotick and a few others leave in december while others leaving in march… who is going to fill the voids (yes booty is overseeing what kotick did) but there are plenty others.

Hopefully the ships get righted and the right people are put in for the job.

I know it might be somewhat of an outside of the box pick, yet I could see Reggie Fils-Aimé being an interesting pick to help oversee ABK.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft changes the structure of ABK. I could possibly see Rob Kotich, Mike Ybarra and Tjodolf Sommestad being given a lot more freedom and reporting directly to the different heads at xbox direct so Phil, Matt, Sarah and then for things like legal/marketing/etc reporting to whoever the relevant person at Microsoft gaming is

One of the greatest games of last gen IMO, and easily one of my most-played.

what happened to contraband? lol.

See past releases of Avalanche… the studio can get something cool off the ground but depth and content is almost always meh to barely okay, that’s where the game is likely taking so long.

Making a car focused non racing game is virtually impossible

Well, that depends on how you define racing. There’s Crazy Taxi, Twisted Metal, Spy Hunter… Those are all strictly car-based but with various levels of “racing.”

And then there’s Avalanche’s own Mad Max, which isn’t 100% car-based, but I’d argue certainly “car focused.”

But in general, I agree that having a game centered around cars is for the most part going to involve racing those cars.

They made mad max. They have the chops imo.

This concept doesn’t allow for mad max’s over the top combat but i guess we’ll see what they do soon

They already did it with their Mad Max game though lol.

Just want to say that I freaking love MAD MAX. Best car combat since Twisted Metal 2 in my opinion. Have wanted a sequel for so long and probably won’t happen but maybe one day. Rage 2 was good but the car combat in my opinion was a few steps back compared to Mad Max. I get that’s not what Rage 2 main focal point was but still, come on. Still great game though.

Looking forward to seeing what Avalanche Studios comes up with for Contraband.
