Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

I’m going to be spicy and predict that Hellblade, Avowed, Towerborne and MSFS will be the four games they announce ahead of time and then South of Midnight will be the secret fifth game like Hi-Fi Rush (obviously it won’t be shadowdropped).

Bonus points for release timing: Towerborne will be out in March, Hellblade in May, MSFS in July, Avowed in September and South of Midnight in October (although the latter date won’t be announced until the showcase).

True but they have more new releases coming out this year than they did a year ago so I don’t think that they need to show The Elder Scrolls Online or Fallout 76 or any of their live service games especially when they get their own individual show when needed anyway.

I find it very hard to believe that South of Midnight releases before Clockwork Revolution especially when it didn’t show any actual combat, gameplay or what the general premise will be. Never say never but I would be shocked.

The amount of first party is great.

I think Clockwork is further off because the trailer said “coming… when it’s ready” which tells me it’s 2025 or 2026. South of Midnight should be sooner than that given that it’s likely a smaller project (still AAA, but less ambitious than Clockwork). Matt Booty did say that not having a year on the trailer didn’t necessarily mean that it wasn’t 2024 or soon.

Obviously we’ll see though. 2025 is probably more likely for SoM but never say never.

Yeah, all true. It’s just that I go based on what they show me and when one shows gameplay while the other is just a cinematic, it tells me that the game that’s showing a cinematic is further out because the gameplay isn’t ready to be shown.

We’ll see. Clockwork Revolution and South of Midnight are both on my list so whenever they release, im ready!!

I really don’t think it’s as simple as that. It depends on the game. But I understand the perspective.

Clockwork is an RPG so there is likely alot more content required than a game like SoM. So even if we saw gameplay, there is no telling how much of the remainder of the game has been created.

It’s really is amazing! This is what Sony wants for their 1st party games. Xbox console gamers support 1st party!

As expected, they’ll save this until closer to the show’s launch, hopefully the extra time will let them expand on the quality/features

Being an WRPG with all that comes along with it, means that Clockwork Revolution will have way more content and permutations in it’s designed compared to to a linear game like South of Midnight. Also, just because they didn’t show gameplay doesn’t mean they didn’t have any to show at that moment.

I don’t think we can really read into a game’s readiness based on that. From what I understand, each studio creates something and submits it and Phil/Matt or whoever, decides what they’re going to show. So, it could be that Compulsion thought that that style of presentation would be more interesting over a gameplay reveal. Also, if it is slated for late 2024, Xbox has a big show during the summer for a gameplay reveal.

I should also note that I’m just assuming everything not named Hallblade 2 will be 2025, so I personally don’t expect SoM in 2024.

Man so I hate to bring it up because I like his stuff a lot, but SkillUps recent video is an exact demonstration of the Xbox tax.

From my years watching him, he does not appear to have a console allegiance, he’s critical of Xbox, but he’s usually fair.

However, in his TGA video, he didn’t mention Xbox’s presence once. Not for OD, not for Blade, and get this; Hellblade 2 wasn’t even mentioned in the video. A game which is performing only ‘ok’ commercially at this stage despite arguably the best looking visuals we’ve ever seen.

Occams and Hanlons razor - he probably just forgot. Which is the exact point. How do you spend a whole section on GoW DLC, but don’t mention that Hellblade trailer? Which is now going to get even less traction online.

Idk man, just kinda sucks to see Ninja Theory get done like that

Skill Up’s been losing me for a while now too. Him not talking at all about Xbox is just…

When it was Xbox that indeed had such a strong presence. Can’t help but feel if it had been Sony with OD, Hellblade 2 and Blade he would have absolutely mentioned it. Seriously, how do you not cover a brand new Marvel game? Meh.

I think we get either Hellblade 2 or Avowed, not both. In this case I don’t think Avowed is releasing until the fall so that’s a summer showcase thing.

I think we’ll get some Fallout stuff, look at the Series update for F4 maybe? With the show coming and all. ESO I suppose will have their 475th expansion too, like last year.

Finally!!! How long do you think we will have to wait for ray tracing?

He did talk about Blade, just thought it would’ve been worth pointing out that a new Xbox Marvel game, a new Xbox Kojima game and a new Xbox visual masterclass game we’re all at the show. It wasn’t. And Hellblade 2 was omitted entirely.

Ah, got it. Thought you meant he didn’t talk about Blade at all. Yeah it’s weird for sure.
