The opposite of Ubisoft approach. I’m in.

Nothing more immersive than open up your Morrowind journal to follow the direction to a location. It’s especially memorable when the direction is wrong and you found it by random after 5h. Still my favorite game. :doge:

That sucks to hear as always, hopefully they find work quickly.

Just now seeing the talk about Gears. I am all in on an open world Gears.

I’m also all in on things like Hive Busters on the side.

I’m here for open world Gears too. Having played all the Gears games (yes including Judgment) Gears to me has always been about the epic battles with huge creatures and set pieces. The confined spaces didn’t ever make me feel scared and more felt clunky to navigate around. getting caught on geometry. If they can scale that to a large open world somehow where the cover system doesn’t feel out of place then I think it will be the best Gears yet.

Like Redfall.

And before people dump on me for being negative, I am referencing other people who disparaged Arkane for not doing the same things that made games like Dishonored or Prey, and stick ing to those tried and true formulas. Had Redfall hit, we’d be now talking about Arkane Austin’s “daring move away from their established formula.”

Plot twist, Zenimax moved Arkane off making “risky” games like Prey and Dishonored due to the lack of financial success and made them make a more generic project in Redfall lol.

But yeah, Gamepass should promote more creativity rather than stagnant it since they aren’t dependent on how many copies they sell anymore.

Me too!!! Sadly, Ubisoft did games like Hi Fi Rush not too long ago and I wish they would keep doing them and while they do here and there, it’s not to the extent that it used to be.

Hi Fi Rush was great and im looking forward to another smaller AA game in 2024 - Towerborne. These are just a few of the reasons why I love Microsoft’s direction when it comes to games. Majority here know that I like Sony’s first party games a lot for the most part but there’s no excitement or wonder or suspense because with nearly every game, you know what you’re getting. With Microsoft, it’s the opposite which im all for.

Only problem is that Redfall was more Zenimax’s idea as opposed to Arkane’s. Arkane is going right back to what they do best which is story driven single player immersive sims. Plus, very few if any do these types of games and being under Microsoft along with having Game Pass, sales are no longer a concern which should allow Arkane to get right back on track with yet another great game release.

I’m imagining their open world will be more Rise/Shadow of Tomb Raider rather than a full-on open world Assassin’s Creed/Horizon Zero type game.

Sounds great to me, I’m going to love anything the Coalition put out anyway so I don’t have any concerns.

I know some will be against it but I do wonder if Hi-Fi Rush 2 will get the AAA treatment with its success.

I kind of wish it didn’t? Sometimes the AAA treatment just takes the magic out of some games. Makes it to big, makes it too busy.

MORE games the size, budget and polish of HiFi need to exist

Can’t it still be the same size with a bigger budget?

What would a bigger budget do for a game that’s already so polished outside make it bigger?

Not too long ago? I wish this was true. Rayman Legends was 2013.

Now i’m sad.

They’ll make a bigger and better second game for sure, though I don’t think it would be a 30hour slog either. I think what they’ll do is just up everything a little and add some more cool features like a differnt genre maybe in each zone, I think co-op could be cool as well just stuff like that, more of the same with some new features and just better.

So long as they don’t try and make it “open world”. Not every game needs that.

Nintendo is like “Watch me.”

I look at Immortals Fenyx Rising, For Honor, AC Chronicle trilogy of games, the upcoming 2D Prince of Persia game, Child of Light and others like you said Rayman Legends, Valiant Hearts and even Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and the sequel.

Ubisoft does it but nowhere near the level of what they used to which is definitely a shame.

Please don’t say that, I want that exact scope and length and art style. Would be so amazing if they do multiple different games with it, frankly I already put it in my head that a TMNT game in that style with the cartoon vibes would be so damn glorious :eyes:

Im with you, I liked AC Chronicles , Valiant Hears and Child of Light. But these games were all 2014 or 2015. Ubisoft has not made a game with a smaller budget or with UbiArt in a looooooooooooong time.

I hope AC Mirage is good and sells well so we get more of this and less of the recent bloated open world Assassins Creed games.
