It is outdated(and you mean 2006. That’s when Gears came out). Whether ppl wanna admit it or not. It was revolutionary during the 7th generation of consoles but now like we mentioned its outdated similar to the heavy movement RDR 2 used.
I agree but I think they should keep the main line series as it is in terms of movements, etc etc.
You don’t want to alienate the fans that stuck with the franchise all these years. Experiment with the IP in a spin off series ala Gears Tactic.
I don’t think the movement is necessarily the problem, for me the issue is the games havn’t evolved in most ways since 2006
Still fighting the same sort of enemies and still encountering enemies in the same way with the same combat sections, with the same bullet sponge type combat
I’m not against them innovating with the traversal/movement but I want to see things like proper physics, enemy dismemberment/enemies react to where they get hit i.e. Resident Evil style, better gore in general like RE2R, more varied enemy encounters, destructible environments etc
Gears gunplay only gets better with every game so it’s never been a problem, the problem is everything else outside of it which isn’t actually bad, it’s just kind of got old and stale, at least for me
Its a TPS with very little narrative focus and mostly linear
Im fine with it. I ejoy gears gameplay even now because it knows what it is and does it well.
RDR2 is open world with many different interactions. The slow movement can get in the way.
It’s tricky because what else are they supposed to fight in that universe? I just think biggest mistake franchise made is not moving on from the Delta Squad. I think a lot of the times with reboots it’s best to move on from original team, so you can do your own thing. I think 6 needs to be the conclusion of this story, and can focus on spinoffs to keep franchise alive. I know it’s a controversial point, but I wouldn’t mind seeing The Coalition tackle a new IP after Gears 6
They already vastly increased the movement in gears 5.
The Movement in Hivebusters felt great. I maintain that they should stick with what they did in that DLC for the next Gears game for the most part.
Did Hivebusters get a lot of people playing it? Because I thought it wasn’t very popular, which if it wasn’t then there’s really no reason to either use it as a template for future Gears or even using the characters introduced in it as the main characters after Gears 6.
No it didn’t but MS didn’t do the greatest job of making people aware of Hivebusters.
Yeah, I feel many aren’t aware of hivebuster. No clue why they didn’t market it better. It’s kind of gears 5 miles morales tbh
Should of separated it and not attach it to a virtually dead game by the time Hivebusters released.
But alas, I rather not torment people in here with the marketing talk again.
Even I’m sick of it.
Do DLC generally get a lot of ads? I don’t remember Forza Horizon 5 dlc getting much and that had a really good amount of people playing it.
I don’t think Forza is a good example.
By that metric neither is Miles Morales, my thinking is Microsoft advertised both games(Gears was left to The head of TC at the time and they didn’t do a good job of it), and didn’t do any for the DLC. Even though Gears 5 had a large launch thanks to game pass(like Forza Horizon 5), it didn’t draw many to Hivebusters.
Or should we be thinking FM to FH?
Forza Horizon dlc’s got a lot more lol.
I generally keep my ad blocker off on YouTube and I don’t remember seeing a single one. Should have emphasized that, because besides the trailer that I watched on YouTube I didn’t see any FH5 dlc ads.
Getting quite a bit of Starfield and other games though.
Hivebuster was DLC
Miles Morales was DLC that Sony sells at full price to pad their lineup.
GAMES
I always said, that Gears after 3 should’ve been set in the distant future where the COG achieved space exploration and are colonizing worlds but now face a new enemy on one of the planets they colonized. Brand new enemies, main casts, weapons(though keep the iconic lancer), etc. Easy. Still being on Sera but also just fighting a derivative of the Locus really limits not just the story but also the lore.
