I was always for soft/full rebooting this franchise even if they retcon 4&5, who cares. E-Day is a great choice, but even when/if they make 6 after it, they should not be held back by their original plan for the story.
Lmao I made a joke post about Gears 6 being set in space years ago. Let me see if I can find it lol
Edit: found it

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is coming this update (woohoo!) along with 3 more new Porsche’s. 70 Halo props, Halo themed race and soundtracks added to the radio.
Side note: this will be the last Let’s go stream for FH5, all future updates will just be blog posts. All hands aboard for the last stretch of FH6 it looks like.
Really.
Can PG really pull it off?
Two games in one year
Every time they update FH5 my expectation for FH6’s release date pushes further out lol
I hope everything from FH5 added like this is immediately brought forward into future Forza Horizons on day one. We should be able to see that benefit of GaaS / PaaS.
Yeah, kind of a waste to still be adding stuff like cars if they aren’t doing it with a plan to bring them forward.
Personally, im expecting Forza Horizon 6 to be a launch title for the next Xbox console in Fall 2026.
But something like this would be a potential technical debt in the future. Want to to change stuff in the engine but can’t because have to keep FH5 compatibility… I would prefer if they find a way to keep FH5 and its content listed for longer than 6 years.
I get that, but I’m hoping it doesn’t have to become technical debt as in keeping exactly the FH5 code, but more of a way of forward migration. Maybe let the team spend some time to work out mass migration into the new system. The pay off in spades would be from having more content available. It sweetens the pot to get others to upgrade/move to the new title instead of sticking to the old game because it has XYZ and the new one does not.
I think stuff like assets (car models, props) would be able to be used for both games without an issue. I doubt anything beyond that carries over.
Maybe they will treat FH like how Nintendo treats Mario Kart: one for every generation.
My plan would be , have fable come next summer. In Oct next year announce FH5 coming to PS5 and Switch 2 in Nov. make a gorrilion dollars. December at TGA, announce Xbox 5 by showing FH6 as a launch hyper realistic graphics, a clear step beyond what even the PS5 pro can do. And end it with a 499 price tag and Holliday 2026 window. Let Switch and Ps players subsidize next gen!
But this is the norm for Playground, they did the same with FH4, they launched a huge update with the super 7(predecessor to the event lab) at the end.
They also brought back backstage passes (done towards the end of the game cycle), allows them to reduce the number of new cars in every update (no more paid car pack too).
Game will continue to get update until around June when they announce FH6. Then they’ll start to recycle old seasons.
I don’t see fh5 on other consoles because of all the licencing issues.
