Huh, isn’t it a 2D game? 2.5D? I’m not sure why UE5 if that’s the case lol
it’s a game engine… it doesn’t decide if a game is 2d or 3d
Lol of course, but we’ve always heard Unity is a better engine for stylized and 2D games. Just find it weird, or could also mean the game is more than is being said 2D, it could be a more ambitious art style with 2D and combined 3D of which where UE5 could also give them advantage, would be interesting to see how the game looks.
I see all these hype and excitement posts on Twitter about GoWR, which I get, I would too if I had a a PS5 and at the same time I’m like fuck man, this was also supposed to be our week. Well, year actually because Redfall had definitely been out by now otherwise.
It would have been perfect, because last year was very strong for Xbox, so the momentum really initially seemed to keep on going. Ah well, what can you do? Here’s to 2023 where if all goes well should be the end of such situations. 2023 is going to be the start of Xbox in terms of brand new IP and should be great on a yearly basis from there on out.
I see the " next year is the year"; “from now on it is all big and continuous releases” notions are quite recurrent. I am quite cautious, been burned too many times. We will see in a few years down the line
Redfall I have pretty much no doubt about dropping in the first half, Forza I have no idea and I personally don’t care about that one at all. Starfield could be the one that goes into late next year, but it definitely SHOULD be the start of much more frequent releases. Even if not a big game ever three months or so (that was their plan, wasn’t it?) no way are we gonna see a 2022 again.
Great things for Starfield and Game Pass PC in Japan. At this rate, PC could become the biggest gaming platform in Japan in some years (after mobile obviously).
Japan pc market seems to like Bethesda games I think
I’m confident when Activision is part of Xbox there will be better consistency. Additional studios, Bethesda, Activision, and Xbox having a bigger backing from Microsoft are all going to add up. Of course Xbox could be doing more, but hey it’s definitely better than it was.
I personally wouldn’t be suprised at a pretty light H2 2023, but it wouldn’t really be a problem considering what they are releasing in H1 2023.
I don’t really feel confident in games like Hellblade being ready for next fall, but there could be other stuff like Contraband and Belfry.
I think contraband and belfry are more likely as well.
The Xbox app on PC is going through an on going update. Phil Spencer or Matt Booty themselves said recently that they are looking at it over the next 12 months. They know PC Gamespass/Xcloud ain’t in a good place at the minute.
I do expect a gameplay (combat) reveal for Hellblade 2 at the game awards with a release window (Fall 2023) the game has been at the game awards almost every year since 2019 and I really don’t see how it could not release next year unless it’s much bigger than I think it will be. Even then it’s already been in development for 4+ years so I’m assuming that it will be on another level compared to something like A Plague Tale Requiem for example. If the game is scheduled for late 2024 then it will have a development cycle as long as some like The last of us 2… and I doubt Hellblade 2 is anywhere near that in terms of budget or team size.
I don’t want to see Hellblade again until its close to release, has a release date and has a full solid combat showing and quite frankly should be the last time it’s shown at a major event
It’s definitely not coming until later 2023 at the absolute minimum so i’d prefer if the next time they show it, it’s not until E3/Next big Xbox show
I’d much rather they give us something completely new, even if just CG or follow Hellblade’s steps and give us some further look into Perfect Dark but it’s probably not ready for that
Either way, I dont want Hellblade to become another Deathloop where it feels like it’s overexposed, I dont think 3 showings at the same showcase is neccessary especially when Xbox has so many games in dev they can use instead
I agree would rather see perfect dark or avowed or even a cg trailer for a new project.
It’s just a guess but I think Hellblade 2 has more than combat
For me Hellblade 2 has a whole camp system, tribe management, village development and I think that management aspect would suit an E3 type presentation well while all the spectacular combat, cinematography makes more sense in TGA

And I think Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 will be a real-scale Iceland-sized Open World
I don’t think it has any of it.
This is something quite common in Microsoft production Management and management systems or building Bethesda games like Starfield, Fallout 76, Halo Forge, Forza Lab, State of Decay, Fable , Grounded, Project Belfry rumored also has management there are games like Minecraft Legends, Age of Empires, we can also now decorate and name our ships on Sea of Thieves I won’t be surprised to see Systems in Hellblade especially that Tameem Antonias does not qualify Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2 as a sequel to Hellblade but as something totally different.
I only think the combat will be different. I still expect it to be hudless etc. they might bring in some dmc stuff or change the movement a bit.
I think bosses could get massive, given some of the hellblade concept art that didn’t make it into the main game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it rolled into the second.
