Xbox Game Studios |OT10| Here are the games

Todd comes on stage at TGA. Says they are bug squashing and then reveals a May release date. Arkane arrives and announces a February date for Redfall.

If only! That alone would make the TGA one of the best in years, I wouldn’t even necessarily need anything else from Xbox there anymore.

Yeh but their trailers never show any immersive sim stuff. While I expect redfall to go light on the immersive sim side I expect it to have some of the elements.

Their prey gameplay trailer made the game look like some horror shooter, not an immersive sim.

Because immersive sims don’t traditionally sell well. That’s why Dishonored was marketed as “steampunk supernatural assassin hunting for revenge” and it’s still their best selling game for that exact reason.

Deathloop was marketed as “rival assassins locked in a time loop” and that’s why it got significantly more hype and attention than Arkane games usually do, and even then it still didn’t set the world on fire. The vast majority of players have no idea what immersive sim means, and that’s who they need to be marketing to, not us. Hence why Redfall is leaning into the open world co-op vampire FPS angle, even though Harvey, Ricardo etc. have said over and over again that it’s still an immersive sim.

Prey’s marketing might have worked if it weren’t for the whole Prey 2 controversy. Bethesda/Arkane need to find ways to make Arkane games appealing to people who aren’t immersive sim die hards. Immersive sim fans are already going to play their games and they are a small, niche audience in the grand scheme.

I’ve been playing Resident Evil 2, bought it during the Black Friday sales and I keep asking myself why I didn’t buy it earlier, it’s not for everyone but it’s a really great game so far, I played the demo and couldn’t get into it back then but the demo really doesn’t do the full game service imo, also beautiful game on Series X.

Anyway as I was playing just now I wondered what it would be like to have a Halo game with a similar style, playing as a marine trapped in a UNSC station infested by the Flood, imagine how cool that would be, an elite infected by flood would be like a final boss in that scenario lol.

My new feeling is July

I’m thinking we get the three hit combo

  1. Forza in January-February (Could be bumped into late summer)
  2. Redfall in March-April
  3. Starfield in May-June

Or we get

  1. Redfall from Feb-May
  2. Starfield from June-August
  3. Forza to close out the year

Maybe we even get lucky and Avowed or Hellblade 2 can fit into the year along with whatever smaller projects are being worked on

Smart move. Gamepass is even of greater value after this.

And the price rise is right before the acquisition finalised, so AKB merger didn’t cause that afterwards. Take this, Sony.

I hope the quality of their production is a reflection of the game price increase. They have to be on par with PlayStation Studios.

Your comment is funny, because MS has already proven that it can deliver great games with high level of graphics. On the other hand, we have PS Studios games that are more concerned with the amount of polygons in an NPC’s beard than in delivering games with Replay values.

What? All publishers are increasing the price of games. Microsoft is not unique in that regard and has no addtional obligations there.

On par? Starfield alone will surpass anything PS has released so far this gen.

Especially in scope.

Come on!!!

First four and last four months of 2023 will be packed and stacked while the middle four months will be like 2022 for me - empty because every publisher decided to stack their games all in the same damn time frame!!! UGH!!!

But what year???

The date format only makes lexical sense in YY.MM.DD format.
