Xbox Game Studios |OT10| Here are the games

People are still under the impression that cinematic template games are the only games that count even though it’s been shown not to be the case over and over again when you step out of the social media bubble.

I think Hellblade will be second half of 2024. Otherwise, I think they would have been able to show combat or puzzle solving in the showcase. Also, I think Avowed will come before Hellblade because of Obsidian’s ability to push out games (also we saw a lot of gameplay snippets in that trailer).

My guess:

H1 - Flight Sim and tower borne

H2 - Avowed (Q3) and Hellblade (Q4)

It’s funny that you say this amidst a bunch of Killer Instinct discussion because I was thinking that Avowed should lean into the particle effects as much as KI did.

We already see a good amount of particle effects in Avowed, but they are larger and less plentiful. So add all those tiny pixel sized particle effects and just throw thousands in there. I think things like that could add a ton of flourish to the visuals.

They might also position stalker 2 as a big quarter game.

Stalker doesn’t count in the “at least one big game per quarter” thing. It’s not first party.

I also kind of think Towerborne and maybe even MSFS don’t count either. I think there might be one or two other big games in 2024 that they don’t want to commit to yet. They learned their lesson about making too many promises.

You think this is true? Or rather you think this means anything other than some conceptual stuff is being worked on?

Pete Hines heavily suggested MG was working on Wolfenstein 3 during E3 '21 IIRC.

  1. Fable - I absolutely love this franchise and they nailed the humous once again.
  2. Starfield. Whilst I easily get overwhelmed by BGS games, the sheer amibtion won me over
  3. South of Midnight - Compulsion are my jam. A bunch of weirdos and cretives that sometimes swing and miss. This looks fantastic.
  4. Monkey Island - I did not expect Sea of Thieves to be on my list, but I grew up on Monkey Island. This looks like the single player expansion of my dreams. A first-person, big budget, puzzle filled Monkey Island? Out next month?!!!
  5. Clockwork Revolution - Looks great, has some interesting game mechanics and I’m a sucker for good world building.

Hellblade 2 dropped off due to lack of combat but i hope a direct will win be back. Avowed I’m pretty neutral on and hope to see more. It looks too much like a single player ESO for me, at the moment.

Just a bit jelly of IGN, a little bit. :grimacing:

Thats all I need in my life right now. Games going to hook me for hours. Not many game scan deliver a direct like that and there’s probably more they could have shown.

Its really depressing how it seems No Mans Sky was the first Space game for a lot of people and journalists. Uff.

I blame Sony for that. They went above and beyond marketing that game like the next coming.

Even more sad that gamers and journalist use the game as a pejorative a lot of the time.

It’s hard for me to imagine avowed or Hellblade being late 2024. But then again I’ve been wrong before.

  • Hellblade March 2024

  • towerborne may 2024

  • avowed July 2024

  • starfield first dlc sep 2024

  • gears 6 November 2024. That would be more than 5 years after the 5th game. Coalition is one of the moneys efficient devs at Xbox. But I concede it may be a 2025 game.

I can’t see Hellblade 2 releasing that soon. We’ve honestly barely really seen it, like properly seen. Do we know how far along they are? Because I’m not yet ready to start looking forward to 2024 for it. My mind is at… We’ll see about that.

I’m not confident about when anything hits in 2024, lol. Avowed looked like it could use some more time and Hellblade 2 I was surprised we didn’t more of a look at gameplay.

Almost everyone I’ve seen online and spoke to IRL loved the showcase with the big complaint being how disappointing the Hellblade 2 showing was…I seriously can’t understand what NT wanted to achieve with that trailer. It’s crazy that we saw Avowed for the fist time a few days ago and saw plenty of gameplay while we’ve seen Hellblade 2 I dunno it’s 4 times now? and we still haven’t seen what combat looks like… :confused_wat:

So yeah I agree that I wouldn’t bet on an early 2024 release for Hellblade 2.

I think Towerborne is the early 2024 game with Avowed being late June, Flight Simulator in August/September and Hellblade 2 being Microsoft’s big Holiday game in November 2024.

Who knows??? I’m looking forward to seeing Indiana Jones but I really want Wolfenstein 3 already so they can wrap it up.

Wait…there’s Subways in the game? Holy shit. If there’s alien races in the game which I believe that there is and there’s ground vehicles of some sort, the two biggest questions that come to mind would be answered. And I disagree with IGN saying this game will be played for years, more like decades. lol

All four of them out by Q2 or Q3 and then one or two other big games in the Fall.

I really don’t think Towerborne and MSFS count as “big” games for the “at least one big game per quarter” thing.

There was a lot of rumbling from insiders on whether or not Avowed and Hellblade would hit 2023 - even though we now know they won’t it still makes me think they’ll be first half 2024 rather than late 2024. Of course, “insider rumbling” isn’t exactly necessarily correct, but I also think we’re gonna see Xbox be a lot more careful with giving release dates and windows moving forward so the lack of one for these games doesn’t make me think they’re necessarily far out.
