Starfield - Nothing more needed to be said.
-
Avowed - It’s Obsidian. They have never made a game that i didn’t like.
-
Clockwork Revolution - 1st Person, Full character creation, Steampunk RPG. I’m in 100%.
-
Fable - 3rd Person RPG. Would have been my number 2, but i need to see more and need more details.
-
South of Midnight - 3rd person action-adventure, Need more details. Hopefully no Quick Time Events. I don’t like QTE.
No lies detected. When even Epic is tapping you up to help get The Matrix Demo running on the Series S, you know they are industry leading.
Slight tangent, but more than once Jez has said that he has been hearing very exciting things about Gears 6 and rumblings is that how it looks is one of them.
He said that the game will be more than a sequel with similar coating. Can’t wait to see it.
Avengers wasn’t a bad game, it was a bad business model.
Again, I will have to disagree. The business model is instiratically tied in the game’s mechanical and level design.
Avengers was mediocre l the campaign was fun and sometimes but most of Time was repetitive
Man, im late to the parade but that was a good showcase, best since like 2018. These were the games im excited about(first party only):
-
Starfield: big bethesda fan, could be game of the generation if it hits, I just miss playing a good bethesda game so I’m there day one regardless. The direct blew my mind, that is all lol.
-
Fable: graphical showcase but still retain the fable charm of old, cant wait to see more.
-
Clockwork Revolution: Loved bioshock and really wanted a steam punk setting game, plus that time mechanic looks interesting. I feel like Inxile is the most underrated team in Xbox, let them cook.
-
Avowed: the graphics don’t look as appealing but its Obsidian, so im still hyped, so their rpg mechanics and writing will be good. I am also a fan of magic based combat and this has alot of it.
-
South of Midnight: sucker for great art style, plus its a unique game in my perspective as there is not alot of Southern gothic inspired games.
Third party wise: Star Wars Outlaws(big star wars fan), Metaphor(liked persona 5r when I played it but not a fan of high school setting, so fantasy persona hell yes).
January wasn’t that long ago.
Hi-Fi Rush was good, but it doesn’t have the reach nor will it likely have the impact that Starfield will.
No it won’t but, people were excited for the future of Xbox because of such great game. Redfall was a misstep in what was Xbox’s work coming together and every short ass attention span “gamers” in the media then started using that as a reason to not only dismiss Hi Fi Rush but shit on Xbox all the way until the show. With every article and video that came out being used to generate as much negativity around Xbox as possible.
- I don’t think anyone is really dismissing Hi-Fi Rush, it’s just not the type of game that will live in the public zeitgeist for a long period of time.
- Redfall was a pretty massive misstep.
- It was avoidable.
- There wasn’t really much else to talk about in between, but I feel like the bad PS Showcase took it’s share of the limelight once it happened.
Avengers has great combat/gameplay but SE ruined it by having CD turn it into a loot driven live service game. I don’t blame CD for Avengers at all. It’s always on the publisher because they dictate what and how games will be.
As for Perfect Dark, I still believe that it will be third person which makes sense since CD has done third person games and it’s a reboot so why not change it? But we’ll see. Either way, im 100% confident in Crystal Dynamics leading development on Perfect Dark.
Great list. Clockwork Revolution looked great and im really hyped for it. Interested in South of Midnight but need to see more before I get hyped. Fable looked amazing and it being Witcher like makes me very happy. Avowed looks really good and like you said, nothing more needs to be said about Starfield.
Hi Fi Rush had been called a contender for game of the year. It had a 90+ metacritic score that someone in media decided it didn’t deserve because Xbox had a bad 2022. It only dropped to the high 80’s after a couple of months when gaming outlets looking to get clicks scored it lower than most.
Yeah it was, and yeah it could have been if someone at Arkane actually went directly to Microsoft and told them they were having issues. Or Microsoft hadn’t decided to put so much trust in Zenimax and checked in on them as they should have.
It wasn’t that there wasn’t much to talk about, it was that the topic of negative Xbox news generates clicks. So they made this entire narrative about how Xbox was doomed if Starfield wasn’t the perfect game.
Starfield transcends the Xbox platform. Hi Fi Rush doesn’t. It’s that simple, it’s not a diss at Hi Fi Rush at all and it shouldn’t be taken as such.
I mean, how many games can compete with what we saw from Starfield?
I don’t think comparing any game -from any platform- to Starfield in this way is fair.
“[game name] is great, but it’s not on the level of Starfield.”
You can almost name any game you can think of and the sentence would still be correct in a way, including Bethesda’s own games.
WE still have to see how good starfield is when it comes out. It has insane amount of cool stuff but how does it come together as a video game package…we’ll find out.
So what’s the road map predictions for2024. Hellblade 2 in q1, tower borne in q2, Avowed in q3 or 4 and flight sim in q3 or 4.
im not a fan of that. i understand flight sim has an audience but if its one of your big games i think fans will not be happy. its still pretty rad you get avowed and hellblade in the next year
What “fans” are you talking about? To alot of people MS Flight Sim is the biggest/best game MS has. Don’t mistake the vocal minority as speaking for everybody.
