We as players/customers/gamers should always want and expect quality from our products that we buy. We never want MS to get comfortable with “it’s on GP anyway, let’s release it, patch it up as we go along.”
Thankfully we haven’t really had that before. Certainly not with MSFS, Psychonauts 2,FH5, Pentiment and HFR this gen so far.
eh criticism is fair play because reviews are subjective. However, luckily for redfall it’s launching on gamepass where we get to try it out ourselves.
Sorry thats what I meant, If you have gamepass, just play it and decide for yourself. Its just people jump the gun way to early, if its not good then oh well, but you might end up enjoying it on the flip side.
My major issue is this game being the first Xbox game to have $70 price tag and it’s having a polarizing launch . I know there’s gamepass but not a good look in that regard imo
I’m very particular about combat in a shooter. It has to be tight, not floaty. One of the first things I hated was the auto cover system. I just could not reconcile that with the precise nature of the cover mechanics in the original trilogy (especially 2 & 3 which had awesome third person shooting).
But another game which got eviscerated by large swaths of the internet was Bioshock Infinite & it’s by far my favorite Bioshock game & in fact one of my favorite games… ever. No exaggeration. The gunplay, level design & powers are just so, so good. But… loads of people hate it.
So like others here I’m super thankful for Game Pass because I’m going to try Redfall myself. If there’s something in it I like, it’ll keep me hooked. If not, there’s always something else to play.
It’s actually extremely unfortunate and sad that Arkane released gems like Dishonored and Prey when they did, and it never truly taking off, something it did deserve to.
Imagine if Game Pass had existed back then and all their games on it day one, for sure there would have been a much bigger player base for their games now. Probably enough to have warranted a Dishonored 3 or Prey 2.
Imo Quality doesn’t mean the game having a 60fps mode on launch, it means the game not being a broken mess. Having a complete story, being something that I can enjoy.
One example I would use is Elden Ring, it’s a game that launch with terrible fps, but the game wasn’t broken, and even if I think it has some really bad fps/frametime problems to this day. It’s still a quality game.
The game might suck and people might trust ACG but anytime I see “Worst game of the year” type posts, I immediately assume you havn’t played many games or you’re looking for clicks and full of shit
Oh but I meant that too, wasn’t talking about 60fps here, but actually about the bugs and glitches. Saw a few clips just now of enemy characters just float walking over a stair case, LOD and texture issues etc. Nothing a hopefully day 1 patch can’t fix.
All those things are in Elden Ring as well, lately on the reddit people have been posting videos of the game glitches and everyone is just having fun with it. Heck when the game first launched people were doing it then too, as for LOD yeah that’s also there and in FH5 60fps mode.
Edit: One glitch that still happens to this day is a dragon getting stuck in a fall animation for too long and just dying instantly because the game thought it fell through the world and killed it. Or the red wolf boss sometimes jumping on the chandelier in it’s boss room and dying when it hits the ground because it’s attack animation was over, it’s damn hilarious.
Fair, just tired with all the outrage going on in the gaming space. But then again, Xbox make it easy to stoke those flames. To be fair I wouldn’t fully blame MS for this, this game was a remnant of old bethesda and was changed from GAAS to just coop when MS bought Bethesda, feels like they just want to get this game over with, which sucks but what can you do.
One delay was already a bit unusual for BGS, a second one was a big unexpected happening, and yes now that they are under MS they can afford this…but September HAS to be it. Has to be.
