Xbox Game Studios |OT10| Here are the games

They should call it ABXY.

Activision, Bethesda, Xbox, something beginning with Y.

yeah beth will 100% be there, likely with new titles, but there’s also a 100% chance of us seeing fo76 updates as well as ESO. Plus i’d be shocked if we didn’t get a little something for starfield that then said, he go check out the starfield show after this!

It’s truly been radio silence when it comes to Obsidian with Avowed for a really long time now. While we actually had some tweets here and there about Fable, but we all expect that game to be way later.

Not saying I expect Fable first, but man, please let us see something of Avowed in June. It’s definitely time.

It has to be time.

If we don’t see it in June, then maybe The Outer Worlds 2 is coming first.

I would love it if they showed both of them in June.

That would be super weird though if ToW 2 is first. Maybe that trailer wasn’t supposed to be taken 100% seriously, but I doubt they were very far in development at that point.

Both would be awesome, agreed.

It’s not that weird. Jez has seen gameplay for both of them and he said TOW 2 was further along than people think. It probably started development around the time TOW came out, which was October 2019. That’s like three and a half years already, and Obsidian have a history of showing multiple projects at the showcases.

I still think Avowed is first (in early 2024) but I believe TOW 2 will be out 6-12 months after Avowed.

Jez always said that Obsidian wanted a game out every year for the next seven years, but I don’t know if Grounded and Pentiment launching so close to each other has messed that up. Avowed in early 2024 and TOW 2 in fall 2024?!

Interesting. But I do think we should keep in mind that they are going for a bigger game this time. At least that trailer seemed to make that clear. In a jokingly way they basically spoke about bigger budget, bigger everything. Assuming that’s indeed the case they’ll probably take some time with it.

The intentions to have a game out every year is nice, but let’s see if it happens. After all we heard Xbox say something about wanting to release a big game every quarter if I’m not mistaken? We’re not there just yet.

InXile for anyone like me who had to check

I wonder if we’ll see it this year?

Bethesda will probably be there but I’m ready to see what Playground, Compulsion, Obsidian and the other studios from Xbox have been working on.

I said my reasoning before, but I think InXile’s game is closer than most of us think.

If it was a normal game from InXile, my expectations would still be a launch this year.

But their plans after MS acquisition might’ve changed and made the scope bigger, so 2024 might be more logical.

ABXS sounds good to me

I have a feeling Inxile is working on a Shadowrun game. What do you think ? I could be wrong, but I can’t wait to learn more about the game.

I think it’s an original IP.

They mentioned that Microsoft were interested in a game they were working on before the acquisition, probably that’s what we are getting.

A Steampunk is also rumored, but I don’t recall the origin of it or if it’s from a reliable source.

[From a replay I wrote last year]

Regarding inXile’s game (Cobalt):

If this is the game that Microsoft was very interested in before the acquisition, then it’ll be more than 5 years since that news. And Fargo has said they have been working on it for some time before that.

inXile hinted and talked about it even before releasing Wasteland 3.

When Fargo talked about their next game (the one after Cobalt), he was talking about the period around 2026 (maybe 2025 even). So if the game after Cobalt is released by 2026, Cobalt is most probably way before that.

This was said in the middle of the pandemic, so inXile were aware of a lot of its effects on them and hopefully the game won’t be delayed much because of it.

Wasteland 3 (2020), Cobalt (2023), Next game (2026) … a game every 3 years. It’s not hard to believe, especially looking at their past production and their growth after the acquisition.

Haven’t heard any news (or rumors) about problems in the development. In contrast, they shared their happiness with the progress, as recently as 4 months ago (Chad Moore on twitter).

I’m not sure who was it, but after the reveal of a gameplay from another studio (Hellblade?), I think I remember Brian or Chad saying they really want to show their game but they weren’t allowed.

And of course, Grubb also said they are targeting 2023.

So yeah, if nothing changes, I think it’s a 2023 game.

So even if the game took more time or its scope got bigger and isn’t coming out 2023, I expect it to get mentioned this year, probably with gameplay

All the talk from sponger about the InXile game being the most ambitious./highest budget in XGS has me questioning how big of an increase in scope it got post-acquisition and how much they were able to keep.

I’ve really got no idea what to expect, because InXile was not big enough for ambitious before and they still aren’t a huge team.
