Staying in the Pentiment route iirc. I mean, bruv quite possibly launched the best educational adventure game since Oregon Trail. So I’m all for a victory lap.
This is a bit unnecessary. I imagine they will talk about it on XCast. But I am not sure why you are particularly surprised that Kinda Funny didn’t review Pentiment - even if it is the best/last first party title from Xbox, it is still niche in appeal
Sea of Thieves has the best following I’ve seen on a game for 4 years now and it’s never been nominated can someone answer me why ?
Xbox focused podcast should naturally cover any Xbox 1st party game imo
Absurd
I am more surprised that NMS is there.
Xbox has the best online communities (aside Halo) .
What could you really do in the 2nd one though that would be different?
Like I mentioned, I imagine it will be covered on the Xcast. I was moreso responding to the unnecessary hostility towards KF for not having a Gamecast out for Pentiment. They’re likely not going to do a prerecorded Gamecast review for Pentiment, where only Snowbike Mike (probably) has played it.
Oh right, I thought they meant Xcast specifically. I’m not sure how KFG work anyway.
New, bigger map; more combat depth; a more involved and ambitious story; improved building; more RPG elements, quests, NPCs etc.; dynamic weather; larger animal threats and more.
I’m not saying they will definitely do a sequel but there’s certainly room for it if Adam Brennecke and his team want to do it.
Also I don’t understand these criticisms about the year of XBOX
In the end, the year 2022 of Microsoft has nothing to envy to that of Sony.
-As Dusk Falls
- Grounded
- Death loop
- Penitence
- Forza Hot Wheels DLC
- Various seasons on Sea of Thieves, Halo Infinite, Flight Simulator
Sony is:
- GT7
- Horizon Forbidden West
- MLB The Show 2022 (Day One Gamepass)
- GOW Ragnarok
- TLOU PART 1 ( Remaster ) But honestly I don’t like to put it because there was already a Remaster and on top of that they removed Faction Multiplayer content.
Microsoft published 13 games in 2021 and they finished Publisher of the Year with the highest Metacritic score of all time. Sony hadn’t released anything from Ratchet (June 2021) to Horizon Forbidden West (February 2022) it’s also been almost 8 months without First Party games and nobody said anything?
God of War Ragnarök was originally scheduled for release in 2021.
In the end there are few AAA games but more original and innovative games I find. As Dusk Falls I absolutely loved that you can interact with the choices on Twitch it’s something new, Grounded is for me the best survival game since Minecraft it also has a top notch world design (I made Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 and the world feels so little interactive, free or coherent compared to Grounded it was a bit of a very directive Open World with specifications all the opposite of the world of Grounded which is full of of exploration and interaction with the world) Finally, I read a lot of Tests which define Pentiment as the most outstanding experience of the year and I have no doubt that Obsidian and Josh Sawyer have delivered a Masterpiece which I will remember for a long time. The quality of what XBOX has delivered to us is Incredible despite the fact that these are small projects made by a dozen people they are actually very ambitious games I have more than 300 hours on Grounded and I have read tests that Pentiment can last up to 20-30 hours with lots of Replay Values. Obsidian make Massive games. Alongside that we can add Seasons of Sea of Thieves Rare does an outstanding job with the game, State of Decay 2 continues to be updated, Halo Infinite gets the Forge, Flight Simulator has regular content, Minecraft Dungeons, Age of Empires IV on PC, Fallout 76… Microsoft delivers a lot of content to their existing games all year long and people seem to forget about it.
I am convinced that 2023 will be a better year with Starfield, Avowed, Belfry, Redfall, Hallblade 2 or whatever, but I really enjoyed this year on XBOX
You can be happy with what Xbox gave you in 2022 but acknowledge at the same time that PS simply had a much superior year in big AAA games.
These are mainly AAA Specifications they are not very original AAA with mechanics and game design that I find not interesting for me. Horizon Forbidden West is similar to a Ubisoft type Open World I am much more excited by Open Systemic Worlds like Grounded where I can interact with the environment, build or like Starfield where I can recruit whoever I want, build my ship, explore a universe that will react to my actions. I found Horizon too commanding to really get involved in it and the story was fairly standard. I also think I enjoy a game like Pentiment more.
So yes Sony had some nice AAA with nice visuals (although Horizon uses a lot of fog which ruins the panoramas for me) but for me the graphics are not that important it’s the depth of the game and often I have the impression that Playstation games sound like an ocean in appearance but they have the depth of a puddle of water and it bothers me after that it remains a very interventionist and assisted style of game that will appeal to the general public because of its graphics, the classic but effective narration and a simple Gameplay focused combat and action it is a formula which functions a little like the Marvel films in the cinema)
Such a great community
I have no words other than to say, it really is.
You have your opinion, that’s fine, your way of putting your gameplay preferences clearly shows your preference for games where you make an impact/input that doesn’t feel scripted or driven by the game, I can certainly appreciate that myself as a fan of immersive sims, RPGs, and systemic design like BotW.
But, it doesn’t make it any more complicated, PS just had more big games in this year and that’s why people are saying what they’re saying. Your opinion is not gonna suddenly change mainstream perception and expectations, as much as you and I would like that too if it were to be possible
Would be neat to have something like with the ship
