That game is going to be beautiful on Series X even without the upgrade patch applied, can’t wait. That tweet talks about Dolby Vision, I wonder if it will be using DV for Series X right from the start (remember, it will look better on XSX than One X) or if that will be in the patch too.
If is damn sweet though that the Xbox Series consoles will be supporting Dolby Vision for games. I had no idea.
We heard similar things about “if Xbox One is running 720P resolutions today, what’s going to happen later in the generation” back in 2013? The truth is devs only get more efficient using the hardware, not less. They’ll squeeze more graphical capabilities out of Series S as they get better with things like ML up-scaling and utilizing the efficiencies of RDNA2, not less. As long as Series X is getting a 4K or checker-boarded 4K version of a game, there is a 1440P…or at a min 1080P version available for the Series S. The differences in the machines are relative. The scaled more evenly than the Xbox One and One X were. Lighting and resolution are highly taxing and are the most easily scalible.
If anything as the generation progresses, the Series S will be less of an issue, not more.
Don’t have to disregard them but I wouldn’t be overly anxious about them either. As worker bees (developers who work on fixed salary), more work, more variables, and more things to learn is not something they’re going to cheer about. I don’t work in game development but I am in technology and can picture people from my team saying the things these devs are saying. From a business perspective, more games are more financially viable with a larger ocean of gamers. Series S is very good for the Xbox gamer in that regard. Series S is good for the business of gaming and for consumer options. The negatives will be managed over time. There’s moving variables in the competitions hardware and devs are complaining about those as well. This is normal. Devs are people and more challenges are going to make some people upset.
Yeah, I agree. The biggest problem with the clip is the people chosen to be on it. It’s none of IGN’s Xbox people like Ryan, Destin, Miranda, etc. Casey and Brian, in particular are Nintendo and PlayStation loyalists. There’s nothing wrong with that, but maybe get your Xbox people to talk Xbox news.
It totally depends on your situation. I know that @TheScarecrow101 and I will be getting a Series X each on launch because gaming is our main hobby, our main form of entertainment, and a big aspect of our lives. His sister and her husband will probably get a Series X because they’re (she’s) also into gaming and they have kids, physical media and not great internet so a Series X is a better choice for them. My friend will probably get a Series S in a year or two because she got a One S earlier this year so she sees no need to upgrade anytime soon. While she and her son enjoy gaming, it isn’t their main hobby and she’s a single mum so she doesn’t have the funds to splurge on a new console, let alone a Series X, at launch.
And not a single one of us are wrong or making a bad choice. We’re all making the choice that works best for us as individuals or families. No harm in that.
I got an answer to my own question. So it looks like cyberpunks launch version for Xbox series x is an upgraded one x version and The series S version is an upgraded one s version.
Minor upgrades for both. The true next gen update will be next year.
Exactly. I do think though it makes sense to make the assumption though that if you got a One X, you’re probably more interested in getting a Series X or a PC.
I just don’t understand why people are getting mad at Mark for making that logical conclusion. Maybe the way he said it? Lol
Guess it depends what you want and care about.
If you want to boot your console in less than 2 minutes, play hellblade 2 and some MP games at 120fps, the Series S is definitely a huge mind-blowing uograde.
If you only care about cross gen games, and visual fidelity at 30fps, the Xbox One X is as good or better.
This is why I get confused about people getting mad at ReviewTechUSA in all honesty. He’s harsh and positive about both consoles, yet people only take the clips of his harsh critiques. Sure, he’s clickbait, but that’s not a reason to hate someone. Lol
Idk, maybe I’m just weird. People get mad at me for the podcasts I listen to anyway.
And Ryan did change his mind later on. He admitted to being wrong about that, although I believe he was confused on how to take things when it came to Halo: Infinite’s gameplay reveal (which imo is understandable).
I’m excited about the prices. Getting a series s for my son and series X for me. Series s is a badass little machine.
Series s to me highlights the waist of resources that is 4K. The x has a gpu that’s 3 times the size, the console is more than double the size. It’s power draw is drastically higher I’m sure. All those extra resources are being dumped into 4K. Which is barely noticeable vs 1440p.
Yeah, I don’t want to appear like I’m ranting and piling on them ! It’s easy to get caught up in this stuff.
What I’m sure about Halo Infinite is that I don’t want to play on Xbox One. But it will be playable. 343i had to begin working on the Xbox One version from the start. And I’m pretty sure it’s easier to scale up than scaling down.
When someone starts off with a conclusion (One X specs is better than Series S in this case) I stop taking the rest of what they say seriously since they base their opinion on something that is wrong.
When the surrounding conversation is equally misinformed (the guy in the low left corner stating that you can play everything on Xbox One anyways) or biased from the start (I wasn’t getting a Series X anyway because PS5 and Miles Morales is the only next-gen exclusive like they couldn’t even come up with an Xbox game) they all strike me as about as knowledgable about the subject as if a news station would use the sports guys to report on the Uighyr situation in China.
That indicates both a lack of quality (how can I know anything these people say are true?) and that they don’t care.
“Those specs are pretty similar” (this is at 1:45 in the clip).
That’s what was said. Not that the one X was better. If you’re comparing the One X to Series X|S, then yeah, the One X is much closer to the Series S specs wise.
Again, this is totally people overreacting in my opinion.
I wonder where this footage was captured from since Dolby Vision games aren’t available on PC yet no? Especially confirmed support for Cyberpunk??
mmmm RAY TRACING and Dolby Vision… bruuhasudfhasuhasdi 12h3!@#!@# uasgdf asi ! im tripping right now
edit:
more info.
With support for Dolby Atmos® games at launch and Dolby Vision® games coming in 2021, the Xbox Series X and Series S will be the first consoles ever to enable gaming in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Maybe it’ll be enabled before the Cyberpunk update is brought over to the Series X in 2021? hmmmmmmm
edit 2:
Just seen a post from AudiUSA with an A7 but in the small print:
*fictionalized video game images…
Incoming Forza Mortorsport footage?? lol im pulling all the straws yall
Yeah, I think we will have to agree to disagree on this. They, to me, come off as uninformed, biased and ignorant. I wont judge the girl, cause she couldn’t get a word in and there is no way I’m listening to more of that crap.
