Great work!
So far so good
Looking forward to being a part of this positive community. Also, personally I’m really hoping that World’s Edge has information to share on bringing Age of Empires 1-4 to Xbox in the not so distant future.
What I’ve heard a while back is that they are absolutely okay with bringing the games to console, but I was kinda implied that it’s not entirely up to them. My takeaway from this is that currently Xbox games need to support controllers, and AOE1-3 could not work with one without MAJOR balance and game design changes. So they’re probably waiting to see if Microsoft starts allowing games exclusively for keyboard and mouse on consoles before pulling the trigger. Again, this is my assumption based on implications, it’s not a leak or something I’d jump in the fire for.
The Series X should be able to run all AoE games (including 4) fine. It’s more about the question if they’ll support m+KB only games.
I feel like it would be a missed opportunity to not attempt to make console versions of the Age franchise. It makes sense that there would be balancing and design changes needed to accommodate a controller and living room experience. Age of Empires 2 was ported to PS2 back in the day and I feel like there has been major improvements to control schemes for the RTS genre on console. Also, with input based matchmaking, online games should be fair for all. Perhaps it’s all just wishful thinking on my end, but I believe it’s a worthy vestment.
Ryse being one of the top watched games on Twitch made me think… what is Crytek doing these days? They’ve downsized a lot, right?
Would’ve been interesting to have a Ryse 2 at launch… that game sure was a looker.
Mistwalker is just a 15 person studio that acted as the role of producer for other studios. By JP Games, I really meant Hajime Tabata’s new studio. Lost Odyssey was made by feelplus and Blue Dragon by Artoon. Artoon’s successor Arzest is also still alive(these guys also made Blinx). So, an XGS published Mistwalker- JP Games and Mistwalker-Arzest game is something I hope we see. Or they can hire Daisuke Fukugawa to make their own Japanese studio.
It still does look great.
Would’ve loved to have seen a sequel with a bit more depth to it.
Yeah, it’s a shame this partnership between Crytek and Microsoft didn’t have much of a continuation.
G’day to all. Glad to be here with everyone and the positivity is great to see. Big thanks to the crew for setting up a nice little place for us to talk
Hi everyone. I just learned about the existence of this forum thanks to a thread on Twitter! AWESOME! I guess I can finally stop visiting Resetera for my gaming news!
Anyway, I’m really excited about the Series X and Halo infinite!
Yeah, my bet would be on EA right now.
I set it as my name, rather than username
Yeah, I know re: Mistwalker, but if MS had continued to support them, or even acquired them back then, who knows. They could have picked up another studio to do development and kept MW as a concept/design studio, or staffed them up to a full studio. Just seems like a waste to have laid all that ground and then just… let it go.
As for JP Games, gotcha. I have mentioned them as someone Xbox should look at over on Era a few times, but they could also do something with Itagaki, or see if Yukio Futatsugi is interested in working together again - either by acquiring Grounding Inc and staffing them up, or setting up a new studio around him or something.
But what did they say about Joanna?

I agree, I know it gets a lot of shit, but I actually had a blast playing Ryse. It’s been mentioned by others and it makes me kinda sad also that we don’t have a Ryse style game to show off at launch. I really would have loved that.
When will we know who is buying WB ? Deals that size can require a lot of time I read.
Could be months. That 1,5 month ultimatum for TikTok already means MS has to move fast there.
If it’s any solace. It’s good that things are quiet, means that talks are progressing and NDAs and legal are looking at things, Phil could still be kicking the tyres while waiting for approval from Amy Hood and Satya to sign off but like others have said they need to move fast on TikTok right now
