I agree but I don’t believe that they have anything to show running off Series X unless Flight Simulator 2020 is ready. They could show third party games that they have the marketing deal for but Ubisoft is having their second Forward show in September and CDPR does their own show for Cyberpunk 2077 so im not sure what they could show.
If the upgrade is reasonable sure. Let’s say Sea of Thieves gets a ray tracing update or 60 fps mode or anything worthwhile to mention. My day one purchase is definitely impact by such information. Updated graphics on long running services games are important too.
I think It’s too far away for Avowed
I imagine Xbox line up like this :
2021 :
- Psychonauts 2
- Grounded
- Halo Infinite
- Flight Simulator SX
- As Dusk Falls
2022 :
- Forza Motorsport
- Everwild
- Age of Empire 4
- Hellblade 2
- Avowed
2023 :
- Forza Horizon 5
- Project Mara
- Fable
- Gears 6
2024 :
- Compulsion’s game
- The Outer World 2
- Perfect Dark
- Inxile next RPG
For games like Sawyer’s project or Double Fine next game, it’s impossible to say. And I think we are going to have more studios so more first party game.
A glorified Viva Piñata is EXACTLY what I want. There’s nothing like it on the market.
God, they need some multiplayer. Single-player games are mostly boring.
As a single player console only gamer, I completely disagree.
This. And, id@xbox is oftentimes awesome anyway.
Dude, you said “the only people who like God of War also like the MCU” and you’re gonna claim that’s not dismissive nonsense??? Stop it.
I didn’t say this ““the only people who like God of War also like the MCU” You must be mistaken me for another poster
Lots of people do. But oh well.
Videogames are inherently a bad storytelling medium. “We gotta stop the villain for ending the world! But let’s stop and make sure we get all the collectables. Let’s make sure we don’t miss any side quests. Let’s have the hero die 4 times in a boss fight and then just keep retrying. Let’s make sure we kill guys in the right way to get all the achievements. Let’s make sure we pad it out longer than we need to so gamers feel like they get their money’s worth. But don’t forget, the world is ending and we gotta stop it!”
It’s just not engrossing. Gameplay systems gets in the way of story. The only thing I want from my games is to make it fun to shoot or punch the bad guys. And the chances of making that fun multiply when I’m doing it alongside my friends.
Omg yes. The black is so much better.
Everytime i see everwild something reminds me of how to train your dragon. What i hope for the game is some kind of action game with combat simmilarly to a plague tale innocence (without the rats) and you need to take down an enemy that want to take the animals and sell them or kill them. If it’s just a glorified viva piñata where you only need to take care of animals what a disappointment
When they haven’t given any footage of what the game is, I don’t think it’s fair to call it a disappointment because of what you WANT it to be.
If it’s not much like Viva Piñata, that would be disappointing to many.
I enjoy a variety of games and that to me is what Microsoft’s strength is and we are really starting to see them lean into it. We are getting some smaller beat-em up experiences like with battle toads, we are seeing some simulation experiences in Forza and Flight sim, we have narrative focused rpgs in wasteland, outer worlds and upcoming avowed.
We have the more party multiplayer focused experiences in state of decay, sea of thieves and grounded. We have platformers in Ori. We are seeing them deliver on a variety of game types and while every game may not be for you they are someone and are serving an audience. All the games are ranging from good to amazing.
Its easy to look at a last of us or spiderman and be like thats game of the year. However, i only got 20 to 40 hours of game out of all those “goty” experiences where i spent hundreds of hours in state of decay, in forza, in wasteland2, etc. A gamer you can experience the large swath of games they provide.
The only next gen gameplay we have seen this or last year is in Flight Simulator. And it doesn’t look very likely this will change.
I mean, what’s the point to make a New ip like viva piñata when they just can make another viva piñata. I know is not fair, but i need the AAA single player experience that rareware used to make, the last one was released before the kinect era.
Ah, you’re right. My mistake. But I still think you dismissing all these other Xbox games is not a good thing at all.
Well we already know it won’t be single-player (and I’m very thankful for that).
And hey, if you’re saying they should do another Viva Piñata, I completely agree! But I think they wanted to explore this new art style.
Conker, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark all had a great multiplayer. These games weren’t single player only story driven games. They were more like stuff microsoft makes with Halo, Gears and Fable where you have both single player and multi player options.
Someday rareware needs to get out of those mp games. You know something is not right when Microsoft gives one rareware ip (perfect dark) to another studio instead of the creators of that ip while the creators of that ip only make mp games and small side projects like battletoads. Come on Microsoft, you can be better than this.
the discussion was about AAA games only so that’s why i haven’t mentioned the smaller games like cuphead
