I would say ignoring Xbox in the short term might be a wise decision but in the long term, no. Of course, more than anything, it’s Square being Square. lol.
I think it would be better to launch on both at the same time plus get a payday for Game Pass. The timed exclusivity on PlayStation for FFXVI isn’t going to change anything for that side as majority would buy it on PlayStation anyway. It hurts, Square Enix and the franchise in the long term by not releasing on Xbox the same day.
Pretty much agree here. Only reason I own a PlayStation 5 is for the exclusives that im going to want to play. If it wasn’t for that, there would be no reason for me to own a PlayStation 5.
This is just my personal wish from a business POV.
I hope MS tries hard to get FIFA '22 day 1 on gamepass (even if I think it’s highly unlikely EA would do it). Maybe also get a week/month/special cards timed exclusivity (Sony loves doing them with COD). Sony’s 3 year contract with UEFA ends next month. MS should go for it imo. That combo is a great way to corner the european market. Even if it’s once. Just to get a large bunch of European players back into their ecosystem. If there’s 1 game that can help Xbox gain back some of that marketshare in europe…it’s FIFA. It’s also a W for EA. They get the money for potential copies sold day 1 instead of having to wait a whole year to get to that point and also have a potential players pool of 30 million gamers who will play FIFA and FUT day 1 and might be willing to spend money on what they value most…microtransactions. I’m sure that is incredibly appetizing to yearly sports game devs/publishers.
And if they do succeed, I hope they announce it in their upcoming summer event. Gives fifa players on other platforms enough notice to jump ship. And with PS5 being difficult to obtain, the series S has a great period until this holiday to take advantage of. I see a lot of people who can’t get their hands on a PS5, go for a series S and actually realize how much better value it is. And everyone who does mentions gamepass and how amazing it is.
We’re at the start of a new generation. Everyone starts with a clean sheet. With how difficult it is to obtain a PS5 (which will still last a few more months at the very least) MS has a great chance to capitalize. They’ve done a tremendous job lately.
Would you guys pay EA around 500 million to have FIFA 22 day 1 on gamepass with a 1 month timed exclusivity ? If that brings in around 3-5 million players it’s money well spent imo. Not to mention all the money both sides will be making off microtransactions.
If Microsoft can get the marketing deal for FIFA 22, that in of itself would be huge for Xbox because they can bundle it in with the Series S and Series X in Europe. I wouldn’t do the timed exclusivity but I would try to workout a deal with EA to get it into EA Play day one via Game Pass Ultimate. I don’t think that they would go for day one in basic Game Pass.
Playing this now, nice little game. Shame they remove it so soon, and before the XSX-version. The game needs the 60 fps, and that is only in 1080p atm which kinda sucks.
I thought it was neat enough, but there was a section late-ish that completely put me off and I uninstalled it Mandatory stealth section in a game not built around it with essentially immediate failure if the inconsistent AI spots you.
I’m definitely trying games I wouldn’t if not for Gamepass. I checked out Octopath Traveler and Undertail over the weekend, glad these games on the the service but neither seem to be for me.
Though so far, I’ve played a bit of Outriders and I think I might really dig into it. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some more consistent play in when the servers stabilize.
I only played for about an hour before calling that good, I thought it was a fun premise but I didn’t care for the survival/puzzle aspect.
. Anyway it’s Monday here, wasn’t sure if April’s slate would be announced today or not.
