I’m no casual gamer and even im sick of what is essentially “indie pass”.
I can only imagine what casual gamers think… MS needs to do better, atleast one great AAA a month, even if it’s a little older. If they want a billion subs this is the route.
If Fifa and Battlefield don’t hit the second half of this month it will be sad
Big hole for MS is Stalker 2 getting basically axed after the delay then the invasion. That would have helped them with a decent bigger budget title in April.
Put me in the camp of I like the indies, but MS is back to having an issue of game releases again. The 2nd half of last year was great, but we are back to a dry spell with no end in sight til fall.
Hell I don’t even need a big MS game every month on the system, but even every other month would help out Gamepass as well as general console sales.
I think complaining on here if you don’t think they’re delivering good content for you won’t get your voice heard. Subscribe monthly and cancel when they don’t have something interesting for you. Complain to them on Twitter. They’ll see the data and complaints.
MS perhaps sees enough increasing growth in GP despite not adding big blockbusters relative to the small cost, for the time being while they wait for their 1st party content. The big cost of AAA 3rd party maybe better be spent on 1st party. It could be they are simply 100% reliant on 1st party for that big blockbuster driven growth, and would rather invest the tens of millions into 1st party than 3rd party, (1st party they keep all the revenue to themselves and on the service forever).
It’s not clear and I think the complaints are valid.
Yeah they actually had a big month for sports and some good A-AA games in there too. The people’s problems here remain about the AAA action blockbuster titles
I understand being disappointing by seeing games that you dont like…not my case lol. I still have lots of games from prior months to complete and my subscription is ending this week!!
I forgot Stellaris was getting an update. I wanna jump back in and see what’s new. I know it’s named after the writer but calling it “The Dick Update” is so goofy lol. Maybe they added some trippy events like in his novels.
I can’t wait to play Citizen Sleeper and a few others though. I heard it has a really good narrative. The Vice review has spoilers though, just in case you want to stay free of them.
It’s basically different strokes for different folks. There are those that just aren’t that into indie games and for them there hasn’t been a whole lot, with exceptions of course. If they like sports it has been great the last month or so. That’s why I personally think balance is very important. If the first half of the month has six games, why not have three small games and three medium-big games? And again for the second half of that month.
Nobody should expect Elden Ring, of course it would have been amazing to see and seeing its succes I bet it would have meant a lot of new subs too, but the reality is we’re not there and it remains to be seen if it’s ever going to happen, these huge, guaranteed big sellers by third parties on day one on the service. I could swear GP used to have a better balance or my memory is failing me now.
Totally forgot about this game, that has to be the second half then yeah. I think this is what would be considered medium/AA.
I don’t think anyone is playing labels and budgets, but there is a difference in small and bigger games. Both can be equally great but they definitely are different, feel different, look different and play different. I see people saying it’s great to play a smaller game to take a break from the AAA games, and I agree 100%. Currently I’m playing a little of Yoku:'s Island Express before heading back into RDR2 again.
Balance is just what I’d like to see. So many older games from even 360 really that they could add, but especially plenty from Xbox One that have yet to debut.
I think you’re missing the point. I’m tired and saddened by people who constantly complain about indies and games that aren’t their cup of tea. They discredit the games, say the month sucks, GamePass is bad value, etc. It’s ridiculous and makes me wonder if people play games or simply want pretty things for list wars. Nobody can sit here and tell me that Nobody Saves the World or Tunic are bad games or that GamePass isn’t made better by their inclusion as opposed to some AAA game. Sure, that person may find the AAA more to their personal liking, and that’s not my issue. It’s the fact that everything else is basically “trash tier”. I guess I’m just outside the normal though, I like fun games, I don’t care what they look like or who made them. I care that I’m having fun. GamePass provides fun in droves for me, it’s a great value. Like others have said, complain to the social media channels or whatever, provide constructive feedback but don’t call good games crap.
Yeah, I can agree to this. I think people throw the moniker “trash month” around too easily when it doesn’t feature games they like. Don’t get me wrong though, Game Pass has had some throw away months (for example February which featured no releases for regular game pass users except on the PC platform) and in my opinion people should be able to share their disappointment with the releases and their hopes for future content if they can share their feedback constructively.
Go complain to their Twitter or other feedback channels, not some gaming fan forum. Edit: you’re still missing the point. I don’t think it’s bad that people aren’t 100% satisfied and want more AAA, I’m just tired of the complaining and constant “this game/month sucks cuz no AAA!!!” that seems to happen.
In that case I can definitely agree with you that calling it trash tier is ridiculous. I’ve always said it’s still a great service, but can do with some improvements. I will never agree with anyone calling it bad or whatsoever. Because for the price we all pay, the merge trick it’s a damn good price. Especially so if you use game sharing to and you decide to pay 50/50 with sharing buddy. Had I paid full price monthly I probably would have skipped a few months.
As for constructive feedback, oh I’ve been doing that on Twitter to the Game Pass twitter for a while now. Basically saying that I would like a better balance, that there are still a lot of old AAA games that have yet to see their Game Pass debut. All I can do is hope they’ll consider it and make some adjustments. Naturally I don’t remember every single comment in this thread but have we really had people using the words trash tier though or outright calling it a bad service? I’ve seen plenty of those on Twitter, but they solely do that for the purpose of riling people up.
I wonder if we will run into the situation where the difference between Game Pass and Sony’s tiers (aside price) is gonna be only AAA Day1 release from Microsoft’s first party (happening once per quarter or maybe more often).
Next month we’ll see, though since that month is Xbox Showcase, I can imagine they will go all in on Game Pass release like last year, filled with Bethesda. It’s almost bad timing for Sony to start the new tier service when Xbox is going all in.
Is it though? I don’t envision Xbox getting big AAA release next month and if Sony plays their card right - like for example some Day 1 indies at launch and good back catalog of Square Enix and Capcom titles (or maybe stuff like Tales of Arise there too), it will look very good for Spartacus.
From the way Sony is talking, they will heavily rely on back catalog there. Hell, even now they got FIFA that we used to get in Game Pass with EA Play.
It can go either way. Either you overestimate Sony or I underestimate them or in simple term, right or wrong. I just have rough experience with them in terms of delivering value. PS Vue, Move, Vita, VR, though they are trying again with 2 only now all in (I hope), and now PS Now. Plus is hard to count because you are forced to get it to play online games and it was absolute until F2P games like Fortnite and Apex arrived.
I just don’t have much faith in it but I will certainly like to be wrong.
You mean that deals for games like Plague Tale, Dark Tide, Stalker 2 etc wil cease to exist as well and just XGS own exclusives and indies? I hope not. But that could depend on what kind of deals Sony is going to do.
But that’s something to worry about when the time gets there, for now we still get some nice AAA releases.
