The way i see it even with the price hike its cheaper than a family trip to the movies (before we buy popcorn) and i get a hell of a lot more enjoyment from a month of gamepass than the Bad Guys 2 or Dogman movie…
How much in Oz ?
Alot of subscribers are more casual and wont pay up
If you go into order history, and then order details, what does it say in Vendor field?
How many casuals are on ultimate? I think it’s been said a few times here, but it looks like premium is the target they want everyone at. Essential is also more expensive than core was while still looking very reasonable to casuals.
$35.95 per month
Jebus, really… wow.
Unless im wrong and their are numbers and known facts about this, their are loads of people who consider themselves casual who sign up for the whole lot and just play when it suits.
I’d be surprised. Game Pass Ultimate at $20 a month was already a big ask if you’re just a casual gamer that plays a few times a year. Even COD Day one wouldn’t be worth the price if you JUST play COD. If Microsoft managed to sucker casuals into paying that much a month then they probably wouldn’t be increasing prices. Like all those casuals would just go to Premium where they’d get everything they probably want for cheaper price than GPU was before the price increase.
What’s the best way to extend a current sub ? I’m subbed until apr 2027 and probably want to be covered until 2028
Buy codes for cheap when they’re on sale. Sales do happen at retailers for GPU every now and then (CD Keys would probably be the best to stay aware of). You’re not in a rush, so probably just watching and waiting. Conversion AFAIK only really works if you let GPU expire first.
Something I noticed when comparing PC Game Pass to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is that PC Game Pass doesn’t list ‘Handheld’ under Supported Devices for Download.
It’s possible, and probably likely, that this is referring to devices like the Logitech G Cloud or non-Windows handhelds (Steam Deck) that require streaming, and not necessarily the ROG Xbox Ally (and similar devices). It’s just an odd way to present it, and could be confusing for some.
The one thing about subscriptions in general is that the price increases because it’s massively successful and already making a lot of money. When do you ever see subscription services raise prices that are doing poorly and barely have any subscribers? It almost never happens.
Is Microsoft being money hungry and greedy? Yes but I don’t see how that’s a surprise to anyone since they’ve always been this way.
Yeah, you should definitely try to stack your subscription if possible. I did three years at $15 a month in July 2024. And yesterday, added a year at $20 a month. So im good until mid-July 2028 so I can’t really complain.
The previous $20 price tag will probably stay intact for a little while on websites and whatnot. It’s still listed at $20 a month on GameStop.
I believe a small minority will cancel but majority won’t and they’ll get a lot more casuals in due to Fortnite and whatnot which is what they probably want. So I believe that they’ll make even more revenue and profit than they already do.
Watched a new video by Alex and he was talking about the big price difference between PC Game Pass and console Game Pass. Does PC Game Pass have everything console GP has as well? Because if yes, we consolers are getting quite fucked then.
Also, a few years ago MS announced something and people hated it and they soon backtracked on it. I wonder what the chances of that are , especially if (apparently)lots of people are cancelling their sub.
Yep pretty much what he said. but try not do bring influencers into the discussions as their opinions may be lenient on others even though some have good points and opinions.
PC Game Pass was $12 when GPU was $20 and had ‘most’ of what what is GPU outside of Cloud and some extras. It’s not new.
Not to play Devil’s Advocate here and try to make a cr*p situation sound better, I’ll maintain that Game Pass Standard (or what they call Premium now) is actually a decent deal all things considered. It kind of gets overlooked but I’ve been subbed on and off to that tier of Game Pass for the last year and honestly as a console only user it’s got everything I need. Rightly or wrongly since calling it ‘Premium’ now is a bit naughty considering it’s still a downgrade for people who were used to Ultimate but can’t afford the new price model.
12.99 euros a month for multiplayer + all of Xbox’s first party a year after release isn’t so bad. I feel like MS backed themselves into a corner somewhat by over-promising with GP anyway and their whole day one first party strategy which evidently required upping the entry free to sustain.
I don’t watch any other Tubers really but I often find he has good takes. If Xbox does something good, he’ll cover it and applaud it, he doesn’t take sides and I like that.
Oh I see. I personally never focused on that because I don’t game on PC at all. What is the reasoning that the prices were never the same across both console and PC?
Free, unsecured online and PC users being deadly allergic to anything not being named Steam.
Look steam is great, but let’s not forget that its also a company and they are not your friends. Thw whole crpto scam issue i heard about using a fake game on steam is still a massive red flag to me in some ways.
People blame MS for taking too long with CERT, but I never heard of an Xbox game that turned out to be a crypto-miner.
Not to mention Steam doesn’t allow NFT games, but are perfectly OK hosting their own JPEG marketplace (that let’s them take cut of every transaction) and, let’s not forget, the whole CS Skin gambling underground.
