Xbox Developer Direct returns on January 23rd, 2025

I don’t get why FF would be there on the show with just a port announcement. Does not make sense for a developer direct. The game is already out there, what does devs need to tell us about it more to us?

We have unannounced game and then we will have a 5th surprise game as well.

Oh hold on, this is confirmed? A unannounced game plus a 5th surprise game? Because then yeah, 16 is a big chance. I’d like it because it’s a game I definitely still want to check out. 7R is probably later this year, I can see that maybe being announced by Nintendo actually in April and then articles telling us it’s coming to Xbox too. NateTheHate did say both Xbox and Switch 2.

I do believe we will get Partner Preview in March, so if they want to announce FF16, that will be the place. I also believe Switch 2 Direct would announce more titles for Xbox. For instance, they save FF7R for Direct, but Square announces for Xbox as well, making it all platform available.

I do hear some rumbling about possibly another surprise, though maybe that one will be a title drop more so than the way they’re hyping up for the one that’s currently the only notable surprise. 6 days to go!

How can a surprise game be confirmed. Just my speculation. Because previously on each instance a game is shown which is not part of the initial art shared for promotion.

I haven’t been following super closely but there seems to be a lot of currency to the idea that one of the surprises is “the return of a long dormant Japanese IP.” I’ve seen Ecco the Dolphin and Parasite Eve suggested as possibilities.

PlayStation has all marketing on Resident Evil, for the low price of 10 million. Was found out in the Capcom leak a few years back.

Wasn’t the rumor also that it was a “legendary” Japanese IP? I’m just gonna shoot for the moon and guess it’s Ninja Gaiden developed by Team Ninja.

It’s possible that it’s part of the announcement at the direct. Maybe announcing Persona 6? Persona 1+2 remake? Metaphor DLC?
