Going to guess you didnt mean to add me into this?
Sorry lol edited
Its cool cause I read it and thought ya I know MS have PC Xbox and Phones thats why I said platforms with gamepass on it haha
We’re done. Not worth discussing, because you obviously are set in your opinion… I’ll simply tell you that a lot goes into these decisions, much of which the consumer is not aware.
I’m sure a lot do go on in these decisions but so far you haven’t actually elaborated on what goes on in these discussions and instead just gave vague statements with no substance.
Its very very simple, to you or anyone who’s under the impression that MS would put future Bethesda games on the PS5, I ask the following
- Why? For sales?
- To which I ask then why not other games such as Halo, Avowed, Hellblade etc.
So far you haven’t even attempted to answer either of these questions and instead brought up flawed comparisons to Minecraft. I’m not asking you or anyone to predict the future or even provide a 100% detailed and accurate answer. I’m only asking to not leave vague statements without further elaborating on them. A lot goes on in these discussions…OK…like what exactly?
I could see maybe Wolfenstien III making it to the PS5 actually. It’s the final part of a trilogy which was all on the PS4. After this Machine will work on a new IP which will be Xbox exclusive.
That’s it though. Starfield makes no sense as it’s the big new single player IP that Xbox badly needs
Maybe the next Doom game as well. Most likely will be Xbox exclusive tho
I agree. My thought process:
Existing IP (Not Fallout or Elder Scrolls): 1 Year timed exclusive. This includes any sequels to Deathloop, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Elder Scrolls, etc.
Existing IP Reboot or Stand Alone Sequel (i.e. Fallout and Elder Scrolls): Full Exclusive
New IP: Full exclusive.
Doing this ensures Xbox is the best place to play games, and the first, but does not 100% exclude people from continuing the story. Probably will see the existing franchise arcs wrapped up and rebooted New Order/Prey/Doom 2016 style as future exclusives.
Anything with a current ongoing story could go to the PS5. Ekder Scrolls and Fallout nah no chance. I think it’s a while before we see new games in either series, so it won’t be that big of a deal when they are revealed as exclusive
As others have stated, just look at Hellblade. It’s full Xbox exclusive.
LOL i can already see the mountain of salt if this happens imo the fans will criticize Phil and Xbox to oblivion especially when you have two timed exclusive games to PS5 from zenimax
It will be a PR move. I think they announce Starfield as Xbox exclusive but soften that blow by saying we will honour PS4 fans of this trilogy. Essentially controlling the narrative
Haha i get what you mean but this would not soften the blow imo i guarantee to you they will call Phil Out
They will, but he doesn’t care about the fanboys. It’s about the media image. It’s a good pr win to bring a final part of a trilogy to the PS5. Looks good. Announcing Starfield as Cbox exclusive tells the fans yea were serious about exclusives as well.
What about Hellblade 2, The Outer World 2, The Elder Scrolls 6, The Evil Within 3, Dishonored 3 and Prey 2? Should they be on PS5 as well?
Yeah, I remember Phil mentioning that fans went apeshit after they announced PC day 1 releases. Can’t imagine the shitstorm once they announce first party releases on PS5 while Sony moneyhats massive games.
Many hardcore fans will leave Xbox if that happens and I’m one of them, no reason to stay anymore. I think if Satya doesn’t see growth in Xbox consoles they will leave the console business, Game Pass will be on PC and Cloud, Sony and Nintendo won’t allow it on their systems.
I saw Zalker and Rand’s videos about it yesterday. With how MS has been making moves ever since they started acquiring studios it would make zero sense to say “Ok, for Bethesda we make an exception. We will ship their games to other platforms too.” if anything it’s THE Bethesda games that you hold on to tight.
For the longest time they had a problem with having a steady lineup of big yearly releases, with so many studios at Bethesda that problem is pretty much taken care of. Not only will they have much higher budgets now, they will continue to grow and will become known as one of Xbox’s biggest, promising studios. With this move they really put themselves on the map.
It was either Zalker or Rand that speculated that maybe part of the deal was that Todd Howard and team can decide themselves where games go to, but honestly that doesn’t make sense at all to me. Keep it in the ecosystem and people will start subscribing to Game Pass, AND other development studios will then take notice of this and might start considering bringing their games to Xbox as well instead of skipping (for now, or not bother at all with it.)
Sony has been locking up Project Aia (the SE game, FF16, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, CoD Cold War modes, and that’s to name a few and we definitely haven’t seen the last of it. They were close with Starfield too. Sony has not been playing “nice”. Why should Xbox then?
Not read the thread, so sorry for an argument that maybe was already posted.
Even the MS CFO can not talk with full delegation on how Bethesda games exclusivity is decided. The purchase of Zenimax is not yet completed and as long this is the case you will not hear any final firm statement on the topic.
People have the tendency to freak out on every tidbit which was said. All this will be forgotten the day the acquisition is completed. That is the point in time where we you listen carefully, not now.
Everybody relax. As soon as the deal goes through, Bethesda games not already announced for other platforms will be exclusive to Xbox/PC. You don’t spend $7.5bn USD to buy a publisher and still release their games on competing platforms that don’t have Xbox Game Pass on them.
If Sony or Nintendo allowed Game Pass on their platforms or xCloud it might be a different story.
