I used to think MS was stupid to not leverage Minecraft. I’m sure whatever is decided, there are factors at play here that us lowly people on the outside cannot see. I expect most of them to be exclusive over time, but there are some interesting case studies for keeping some stuff Multiplatform
Why would they buy Square Enix for FF16 it’s not that popular on Xbox.
They wouldn’t, just like they wouldn’t pay 7 billion solely to prevent Sony from getting Starfield for a year. Your entire argument is complete nonsense.
Starfield was announced already, that’s true. However, they never announced the platforms. They only said next gen with the possibility of a current gen version maybe as well. And if next year is going to be a little dry for Xbox in terms of big exclusives…i say take that chance and announce it as Xbox only. Or timed (because lots of work undoubtedly has been done on the PS5 version.) but who knows what Phil has decided on that.
Thats true I couldnt remember if Starfield was announce for platforms
I don’t know why you’re so angry over my random theory. Unless you work high up at Xbox then neither of us know anything on the situation and it’s all just guessing.
I don’t know you think someone is angry for saying your theory is nonsense …because it is nonsense. Theories are fine when they have some plausibility to them… 7 Billion dollars to prevent a timed exclusive that Xbox will be getting anyway …yes that is a nonsense theory…
You for whatever reason we’re upset enough to call this an argument. I don’t really care I just wanted to say that maybe Zenimax still wanted to be multiplatform when acquired.
And I asked you what the point would be in spending 7 billion to buy the entire company, and you said to prevent timed exclusives and keep access to Zenimax games, which implies that MS spent 7 billion to prevent the possibility of not having a game for a year
So let me get this straight…I’m not sure how much Sony would of paid for a 1 year Starfield exclusivity deal if that indeed happened. Lets say they paid 100 million for it (MS paid 20 million to get Rise of the Tomb Raider for 1 year exclusivity) MS would be paying 7 billion or 70x that much just to prevent that?
Ergo your theory is still complete nonsense.
Don’t really care enough to explain again
No explanation needed, your theory is nonsense, end of story
Lol
Rumor: Sony may get Starfield as a 1 year timed exclusive
Xbox: QUICK BUY THE WHOLE COMPANY !!!
Mind you Sony got 2 Bethesda games as 1 year exclusives and tried to get Starfield.
Buying Zenimax and then dropping games there casually is stupid and I dont think Phil and his group are that so Just wait until everything is official.
And if any games ever land on ps5 post acquisition you might as well just shut down the xbox division. Be the laughing stock of the industry.
A lot of posters in here assuming the zenimax deal was about combating Sony in a console war rather than creating a firewall against other players entering the industry and shaking things up.
Interesting
Personally I think the only people playing console wars are the internet participants. Even Sony’s light warring reads more as point of difference PR
Welcome to the forums!
I think Zenimax have been looking for a potential acquistion for a while, this deal is supposed to have started discussions back in 2018. I would doubt a multi platform clause would be part of a succesful deal though.
I think we also have to realize that even after the deal is finalized they might not yet give full clarification on their strategy.
For all we know they announce the release date of Starfield next year and say coming to Xbox and PC and not a word about PS5. Undoubtedly media will ask the question again and if that would be the case they might give some vague answer.
Hell, they could stay vague for six months, a year and then announce it for PS5. But I hope not, just be transparent, like they have been for many things now.
Exclusives = Xbox growth = Game Pass growth = more investment + better 3rd party support. You see it’s very simple.
If Sony bought Zenimax we all know how this goes. Dont know why people are trying to make some sense out of xbox putting Bethesda games on ps5 as part of a different strategy.
