I’m sure it’d be worth the wait, but if it’s that far out might as well not even give that information. Let people focus on the near term games instead of the fact that the game is 6 years away.
I have been thinking now.
Why didn’t Microsoft try to get marketing rights on Avatar or Harry Potter? They are huge transmedia IPs but Sony got them all. While Microsoft does not even have marketing rights on anything coming out in H2.
Microsoft could do something like 2025 and beyond if they want to do a roadmap like how Marvel does their movie roadmap. Since Elder Scrolls 6 has already been announced.
Everything after 2024 (or even 2023) is a twillight zone
Yeah that’s what I mean like say they think Fable is ready for 2025 but they give it a release date of 2026 to cover any possible delays. Then it is finished in March 2025 but they just hold it for March 2026 and work on extra content for the game to release as DLC, just work on the sequal while the game or even just polish it even more or add more nice to have things. I probably shouldn’t have posted it in here I’ve realised where I actually posted it because I don’t think they’re going to something like this anytime soon.
They for sure need to continue to buy more studios and build more teams for something like this to work.
Maybe not and we get some clarity after the showcase in 21 days
No, I don’t think giving a release date is a good idea. There is alway a certain expectation regarding any solid date.
They should try to do it like Nintendo - people know there is a game, but don’t know when it is released until whenever Nintendo feels to release it
No, nobody is gonna care about the announcements of the game for 2024-2025. At best we get a logo but no release dates. I think until the later date, companies don’t plan release dates.
I don’t know why you’re obsessed with these marketing deals
Because they create brand association?
And they provide 0 value to you personally. It doesn’t make your experience any better or worse.
Aside sometimes blocked modes or some exclusive features it affects the perception of the mass consumer - imagine Avatar styled Xbox Series S or HP styled Xbox console. People flock to that.
Hell, during State of Play of Harry Potter some people even believed that the game is Playstation exclusive. I see no reason to undermine marketing.
Though Xbox marketing mainly skewed towards Internet so for them even marketing rights won’t do much.
It’s worth mentioning that stuff sometimes but you really seem obsessed with it and bring it on here all the time
I honestly don’t remember, but is Scarlet Nexus the last 3rd party game MS did a big marketing deal with?
Battlefield 2042
It’s strange it’s like they stopped trying on that front. Sony has the co-marketing for COD, FIFA, Avatar, NBA, Harry Potter and probably others I’m forgetting and MS has nothing. It’s a weird strategy if they plan to push their hardware and ultimately game pass.
maybe Xbox is hitting their budget with all the acquisitions and stuff. It could be that they’d rather save the money and take a loss now because of the Activision purchase.
Xbox used to do a lot of TV advertising during the start of the Xbox One generation and maybe it didn’t help enough with sales. They’ve got a ton of ads for PC Game Pass and stuff on Twitch though.
MS is more than fine as of right now, they are breaking their own records quarters after quarters, so it seems their current plans are working just fine. There is showcase coming soon that will see third parties beeing also there, so I would suggest to wait for that. Also, in a time where hardware production is heavily impacted, they won’t be able to push more consoles than they have right now.
I think Microsoft is just focusing on signing Game Pass deals.
Marketing? Timed exclusive? If it isn’t on Game Pass I don’t think they care.
They did sign marketing deals for Battlefield, Far Cry, Scarlet Nexus and Assassin’s Creed so I think they know the importance of having good marketing deals just putting things into game pass won’t reach the masses. For example there are a lot of people who still think the Harry Potter game is PlayStation exclusive and that game will be huge when it launches.
