With IO it depends on what’s happening with Project Fantasy. If Xbox is publishing then I think it’s certain MS will acquire them.
I don’t think the time frame between past acquisitions means anything. They bought Activision because an opportunity appeared, not because they decided they’d waited long enough.
Agreed but is Sega really down. Creative Assembly is just one studio and Sega seems to be making more acquisitions. Sega being multiplat is fine. They certainly have many IPs lying dormant. Would love to see Virtual fighters and their older rpgs like shinning force and many more.
Yeah I think there’s huge potential there, also if they want to be big in Korea, it’s another reason to bring back Starcraft
Was watching some history on the franchise and it’s insane how big that series was over there
i think before xbox buys anything you guys recommended they should grab support studios that help first party and can provide extra help and “take over” the game when the studio is working on another game
I feel IOI want to remain independent and multiplatform, like Remedy. It’s just the vibes I’m getting. Maybe that’s why Fantasy may no longer be with Xbox… We’ll see.
Quantity over quality will not win them. No wins like this.
Although, they can create there own market with 250M Netflix subs and target a completely different audiance.
Meh. I absolutely expect nothing significant from Netflix no matter how much they say they’re investing. Frankly the only company that could enter (as a platform) and be a competitive threat to current standings would be Apple. Otherwise, nah, lol.
I would like that too but I don’t see them doing it. MS values IP more than else in regards to acquisitions it seems.
Support studios are very important, so yes I concur, there is no point of having IP if you can not support them. An example of lack of support studios is that too often XGS studios are called to help, like Coalition and others were asked to help for finishing Halo Infinite.
Another point before a new acquisition is the proper handling/absorption of ABK, which is internally not so well, and this a human ressources problems. Too often some mergers collapse because this acquisition phase is not done correctly.
I am not saying they are down, but some of their studios (Relic, Creative Assembly) are not well. Humankind was not so well received either. Also in Japan, the studios are invested in large make-or-break devs (the so called Super Games). This could lead in a situation where they need financial backing and support.
As for Sega buying more studios, Sega will live and make investments as long as they are independent, like ABK or Bethesda were doing until the last day.
I think Microsoft will continue to invest heavily into cloud gaming but it won’t be significant in the current generation. With them releasing both on console and PC it gives them the option to either use a similar solution next gen of xbox hardware or pivot to tradition pc hardware which can also be used for other workloads in their data centers. In the end they will have to balance costs and benefits. Just using some known numbers Nvidia charge $15 a month just to use the hardware without games and I think it was from the ABK court case but the estimated cost for running cloud gaming is around $0.40 an hour.
Yes, I regret the Sega of old, even if the Yakuza series is going strong.
This year profits were not so bad. They recorded 2.626 billions € of CA with a profit of 310M€. From this you have to know what is Sammy and what is Sega of course. This is an important matter, considering Phil told in its leaked mail that he was not interested in Sammy operations.

SEGA is often one of the best publishers of the year, with very good games, and a reputation that is well established.
Honestly Sega is a wild card we know Microsoft is interested, but are they? To me I think their best bet is with Microsoft, they just don’t have the finances to make those triple A games that is needed, and Hyenas pretty much proved that. Then there is Sonic, the character in my opinion needs to stand for something and really needs triple A production. I would have expected the 2D form to be something like Ori and the character could work well as a Mascot for Microsoft’s Edge browser becoming integral and getting more popular.
I sure would like some of their old IPs like Golden Axe, Altered beast, Streets of Rage, Shinobi even House of the dead series.
MS is not in a hurry to buy Sega, since their games comes on Gamepass Day 1.
Sonic isn’t and hasn’t come to Gamepass besides at least for me the interest is in the potential not necessarily the current offering. They had far better software during the Dreamcast times than now.
Yes, Yakuza is more Day 1 concerned than Sonic.
I think there is potential for having great success on gamepass for their past franchises. Especially i think that the arcade teams are wasted, developing fun arcade games that could play online would be a great addition to gamepass. imagine virtua fighter, daytona.
