Microsoft needs to secure some of the support studios they are relying on, namely Edios, Asobo, Crystal Dynamics and Certain Affinity.
Apparently CA were trying to get a publisher for their new game, so im a little miffed why Xbox Game Studios wouldnt look at it. Apparently it looked pretty good from what has been said.
All four of those studios, as well as been good support studios for Xbox games, are able to create their own IPs as well.
I think Microsoft is well aware of what they need to do more so than any of us. Remember the list that leaked. Certain Affinity didn’t say they had a publisher yet and maybe Microsoft is an interested publisher. we won’t see any acquisition moves from Xbox until the close this ABK one. There is a recent interview where the owner and head of CA talks about all this.
I will give this a listen. I remember Jez saying that he knew of a number of aquisitions that MS had missed out on due to the ABK work.
If MS had intentions of buying CA, then you would think they wouldnt want them entering into a publisher agreement with a different company, which would effect their options with the game after they did aquire them. If MS dont become the publisher for that game,.it would lead me to think that they may not aquire them.
They were pitching it at Gamescom where Xbox was the biggest publisher. Chances are a pitch like that could be used to see if there is any interest in the project. I’m sure Xbox got a good look and also saw how other publishers reacted. There’s probably a plan to bring them into XGS at some point.
Xbox is determined to continue its efforts in Japan, and that’s a very good thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the next big target after ABK. SEGA is a no-brainer, but I also expect a few indie studios. CyberConnect2 seems to love Xbox more than any other Japanese studio, I think it’s the kind of studio to bring into the family.
I think that they could go under sega, it would be nice to see them working on their own ips like fuga
Yes that would be a very good idea. I also really liked what CC2 did with Asura’s Wrath, I think it’s a studio that has potential. I would also like to see Japanese studios like Platinum Games, Arc System Works, Media.Vision, Artplay, NIS, Bokeh and Arzest integrate with SEGA. I think that would make sense and lead SEGA to a new golden age under Xbox, but that’s no guarantee that these studios want to sell.
They would be great, I have been wondering if xbox has interest on fighting games to boost gamepass, is clear that they want to make a new killer instinct but they need a studio, arc systems works could help them with it, also that guilty gear is a great franchise, after seeing the franchise coming to xbox for the first time I have a bit of hope that ms will look at them
Not many people talk about media.vision but I think they could be an interesting, they made sneakers for the original xbox which isnt great but atleast they have worked together
Bokeh needs to be in their list, that studio has a lot of talent from japan studios, maybe they can make a brand new horror game on xbox or something more experimental like gravity rush
And lastly arzest, I need those guys working on a new blinx, I know their games arent great but with enough support I think they could make something great, sonic superstars looks amazing
Ooooooooh so thats how SEGA will end up joining Xbox?
What did it say?
They are just speculating that Microsoft will buy Capcom because they hired Mena Sato and they allegedly told them to buy Capcom. Take it with a grain of salt.
If Microsoft does in fact acquire a Japanese publisher, im truly hoping for Capcom as they have several franchises and games that are of high interest to me so knowing that I would get them on Game Pass day one would be freaking amazing!!!
Yeah thats wrong beacuse the next is SEGA :3
Okay now that I’m obsessed with Starfield and it’s reminded me just how amazing Bethesda rpgs are, my top priority is to add studios that purely support Bethesda and anything they need.
I’d love to see Obsidian scaled up. Imagine both Bethesda and Obsidian releasing these huge RPG’s on creation engine on a more frequent basis.
I doubt Larian would sell to MS, especially after BG3 but them or CDPR would essentially crown Xbox the RPG king.
While I agree that would be neat to see, part of me actually is really glad that Obsidian’s games will (hopefully) not be as big as Starfield. I’m ok with some massive games but I need a lot more of it to be something that I can play for a shorter amount of time. I’m ok with longer than Outer Worlds (though honestly I still haven’t played all the DLC for that nor have I gone through & done some replays I wanted to do) - but don’t want everything to be massive or I’ll never get through it.
After hearing that xbox is going to give full freedom to their division in japan I am aboard for that acquisition, Imagine their games having more support than ever before without being worried of sales, even the possibility of having a true marvel vs capcom 4 with the xmen, personally I want to see the return of several ips like megaman legends, okami and dino crisis
They should go for double eleven or some people from the mod community like Modern Storyteller(the guys behind forgotten city)
Being honest I was kinda dissapointed when they said that avowed is going to be a smaller experience like the outer worlds instead of being like skyrim( although that was my fault for believing those rumors), but they have been launching great games no matter what so I think is better to let them continue like that, maybe inxile is going to be like bethesda making ambitious games, who knows, so far clockwork revolution is looking amazing
I think that xbox should go for those new studios made by ex developers of ea, cdpr or naughty dog, they could make some ambitious titles with xbox, heck I am still hoping that they will make a deal with gravity well (ex respawn developers)
I agree 100%. Capcom baby!!! Let’s go!!!
