Are mobile stores- MS can easily make massive plays even without more moves. Skyrim is a 360 game, it could run at 720p on an iphone and not even kill the battery. That’s an all time killer app right there
Money does talk, but mostly likely not for the price Capcom would ask for.
Absolutely, Capcom brings more to the table than Square. Their games are in the top selling each year and their games often review well and are normally always heavily nominated for awards.
Many would have said the same about ABK so I would never say never, but yeah i would guess it’s much less likely.
I wish Phil would start mixing it up, go after individual studios and a bunch of them before going after another publisher.
That’s what it’s been suggested is the plan, though I don’t know about a bunch of them
The thing is Capcom is doing fine while ABK ran into problems that were dragging down the company.
True, although I wouldn’t rule them out now they are financially ok (everyone has a price). I remember reading headlines many years ago that implied MS & Capcom were talking.
We even know management statements like “we are not interested in being acquired” are complete BS, as we have seen such statements only to be acquired a few months later.
Personally looking at all the recent layoffs I think it’s sadly going to be individual studios and smaller publishers which will be most affected this year, so we may see quite a lot of acquisitions by the ‘big boys’.
I personally hope if they do go after individual studios that it’s something different from RPG & FPS.
Studios like the Eidos trilogy (Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal, IOI), Asobo, Remedy, Playtonic, Playful, Hazelight and Hello Games etc.
If they go after more FPS studios it should be someone they have already worked with like Crytek, Certain Affinity or People Can Fly so we can get Ryse 2 and a new Gears spin off.
People Can Fly is already doing a XGS game, maybe they will become 1st party after the launch of Project Maverick. Former Eidos Interactive (Montreal and Crystal Dynamics) is everyone favourite target (hopefully with Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and the other IPs attached), Remedy time with MS is long gone, they parted ways after Quantum Break and they went literally opposite way for their next games (PS marketing for Control, Epic publishing for AW2), I’d say it’s very telling. Concerning Crytek, the studio has done only 2 games in 10 years (Ryse and Hunt), some vr side-project and the Crysis trilogy remaster (not really great remasters I’d say). The announced Crysis 4 won’t be as bombastic as the original trilogy without a big publisher behind (like EA at the time), it could be a great target (if only for their engine tech).
I wouldn’t say their relationship with Remedy is done. It was definitely rocky for a while and the fact the XBone was a flop didn’t help the situation as their games and reputation were unable to grow. If you were Remedy during the XBone era would you really join Xbox? Now they would work alongside some of the biggest studios in the world with fantastic financial backing.
Yeah Crytek would be a nice addition but as I said above I’d prefer some of those Non RPG/FPS studios. Same with PCF, I liked their take on Gears but I don’t think project maverick is Gears due to the budget.
Hazelight is a personal favourite only because It Takes Two is probably mine and my daughter’s favourite game to play together. Also Asobo because A Plague Tale is one of my favourite new franchises and the work they’ve done on Flight Sim is incredible. The Eidos trilogy is simply a no brainer at this point.
I do think this is definitely something they need to do, having Game Pass and all those games natively on phones would be huge for them and the store, also further helps preservation
XB1 might be more of a challenge but even 360 emulation would be an amazing addition

Microsoft absolutely needs to acquire Pocket Pair Inc they should put 1 Billion on the table because Palworld is going to become the next big thing with PVP it is not only going to look for Pokémon but it is going to look for Fornite. I don’t think Palworld is plagiarizing anything he invented his own thing even though he was inspired by Pokémon, Fortnite, Zelda Breath of The Wild and Ark he took popular games and made his own concept and it was very clever. What would be interesting is to make Palworld a definitive exclusive to the XBOX ecosystem; there is a priori no contract yet signed with Sony to guarantee the game on PS5, so Microsoft could use it as a system seller with a Series S bundle and make it a powerful argument with Gamepass. Currently the Studio is still small and located in Japan, this should not worry regulators, especially since Microsoft’s presence in Japan is non-existent. After playing Palworld for a few hours I realize that the Studio is talented in terms of Worldbuilding, systems, AI and fun in the Gamefeel Palworld is really a game with a fun base, it is not a simple copy.
I have a feeling epic is going to make a move for palaorld. The game is using unreal and it fits all of the criteria of what they look for in games
I have the feeling that Palworld is more like a console seller it is capable of selling a lot of Hardware it would be stupid to pass up this opportunity especially since it is associated with XBOX at the moment
I think anyone who could/would move for Palword/PocketPair will wait on possible Nintendo shenanigans, I’m still not sure they won’t try anything, this game almost force them to release an actually good Pokémon game and I doubt the next one wold be different than the usual.
1 billion for Pocket Pair ??? lol
But yes it could be an interesting acquisition, for Microsoft which would obtain the Palworld IP, and for Pocket Pair which could grow and develop great games. It reminds me of Undead Labs and State of Decay, but this time in Japan with a game inspired by Ark and Pokémon. I think this is a good opportunity for Xbox.
I think Palworld is worth 1 Billion they bought Mojang at the time for 3 Billion dollars and everyone laughed today Minecraft makes 300 Million in sales. Palworld made 7 million sales only on Steam in 5 days, which is more than Pokémon Arceus which is a record for the franchise which means that Palworld sells faster than the Pokémon license over the same period of time. Pokémon is the most lucrative video game franchise. It is therefore not surprising to buy Palworld for 1 billion dollars
Yeah, it could move units because there’s legit many console players demanding this game to release on their preferred platform . The longevity of the franchise is key but the potential is huge imo because gamefreak/ Nintendo are lazy with Pokémon and this game can steal from that base
Also I think the game is more associated with steam than Xbox
And even if Gamefreak takes inspiration from Palworld and makes such a quality game in the Pokémon universe there are no guns in fact Palworld with a gun PVP mode could compete with Fortnite also what will never be able to make Pokémon in its universe.
In today’s market it is def worth that much when you consider a possible move to mobile and merchandising . I think key right now is if any of the lawsuits will stick but I don’t think it will
