I think they, WB Discovery and CBS/Viacom (Paramount+/Showtime) have more potential. The reasons are several fold:

1. They (anyone really) can strike contracts with the same content producers who make the better shows for Netflix. These directors and producers are not direct hires of Netflix.
2. They (anyone really) can strike contracts with the same IP Series that are the better shows for Netflix. A substantial portion of these IP Series are not directly owned by Netflix.
3. They own more and stronger IP Series to draw from than Netflix

TLDR: Anyone can do what Netflix does and they own more and stronger IP Series.

What goes for Netflix is their big reach across various regions and the number of subscribers (almost 200m). But that’s basically it.

Paramount+ is too small though (30m), but WB Discovery (70m) has neat IPs. Both have connections with movie industry, true, but the thing is WB Discovery has no direction in their movie side and require some kinda of hands on there. Paramount…It fares better there.

The best case scenario is Paramount+ & WBD together.

I still not sure if Microsoft really wants to enter movie industry though. But this ad partnership…I wonder if it also related to ad technology in F2P.

I think Paramount would be much better than WB/Discovery since everything going on at WB/Discovery seems like a mess right now. Especially with everything going on with the Aquaman 2 and Flash movies.

Yeah, these two items - scandals and debt - are two black spots with WBD that made made it not that attractivve at all. Though due to them there are chances that they will be willing to sell gaming DC rights.

Yeah I agreed. Netflix is insanely expensive and lacks the IP for me to really think its worth it while paramount is a fraction of the price and has huge IP like spongebob, south park, star trek, ect. and WB discovery has massive IP in general like DC, Loony toons, Flintstones, ect.

I can’t see WB/Discovery selling off their gaming studios with the IP’s separately without being acquired as a whole so to me I don’t think it would be an attractive offer especially if they also have to pay for the scandals and debt.

I don’t think they will be able to sell their gaming studios without IPs attached, and WB needs money. They don’t really have much choice as without IPs their gaming part (NRS aside) is not attractive or expensive at all. I can see Spider-man like deal happening - DC will be split into gaming and movie parts.

WB needs money but they are too toxic right now and need money. Debt aside, their movies flopped and even investment like Flash they cannot even leverage due to scandals. Acquisition of WB would require cleanup, paying off debt (though some companies would just add it to their own) and a lot of sunk costs (because Flash question will have to be resolved).

I am not saying that WB is for sale. A lot of people want MS to acquire it and considering their issues I would not be surprised if WB wants that too, but they have too much baggage right now.
