Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

Great job with this, seeing all that IP between Ubisoft and Sega with a combined acquisition purchase price of under 10 billion is a insane value proposition, Sega truly has some amazing IP😍

Can we get a 60fps patch for crash team racing now please? For fuck sake

LOL, that like at the very bottom on the list of things to do with ABK for Microsoft.

Crash Team Racing is still one of the major ABK games not to get a PC release

The only way tobplay that game at 60fps is to emulate the shitty switch version

I wonder where Microsofts priorities lie after the ABK acquisition. Is their priority going to be growing more mobile presence, cloud, or Xbox?

I do think they could immediately go purchase a mobile only publisher and people wouldn’t care. It would also be an easy purchase as there’s nothing to argue against.

Everything. Everywhere. All at once. Microsoft is launching their Playstore competitor next year. So mobile might be a little more focused…but hey, Take 2 owns Zynga and Sega owns Rovio…two birds, one stone!

I don’t think growing cloud is unique, at least in terms of acquiring content. Also, you forgot PC.

Sega helps with Asian content, PC, and (now) mobile. Sega it is.

Phil essentially said after the ABK deal was announced that they would be strong enough in the West and would be looking elsewhere

It might not be soon considering this deal but Asia is inevitable, it’s also why SEGA was such a strong target for them, they are basically the Japanese ABK in terms of what they provide for MS

IOI, Crystal Dynamics, Certain Affinity and Asobo should be No brainers and should honestly all be under XGS by year end. Remedy is and has always been my #1 target. With them and the previously mentioned studios, Xbox could finally have a stable of third person AAA games that become synonymous with the brand.

I think if you’re going for Crystal, then you also have to go for Eidos Montreal (forgot what their new name is). They’re also helping with Fable and I think they make high quality games. Guardians of the Galaxy was solid and Deus Ex was usually a good game

Human revolution and mankind divided were underrated gems. Adam Jensen is low key one of the best video game protagonists in memory.

I think they will “rest” for this year after all they have been through

Then :eyes:

Why does everyone overlook that Asobo went out and got external investment so they could remain independent?

I know things can change, but seems like everyone on forums and podcasts acts like Asobo should be a done deal.

Trauma for me as an Xbox fan after Microsoft let Bizarre Creations and Bioware slip back in the day.

I understand wanting them, but they got to want to sell.

And before someone tells me 'Xbox can afford to give them a price they can’t refuse"… Don’t lol.

I see a lot of people thinking that Microsoft will stop acquisitions after ABK but Microsoft plans to overtake Tencent by 2030 so they will have to acquire a lot more.

What figure are you using for Tencent? Searches show me they were about 23 billion USD gaming revenue in 2022, compared to like 16 billion for Xbox and 9 billion for ABK.

I think the aim of being the Netflix of gaming requires that they get more content to draw in more people from across the globe into the service.

They’re stacked to be a (the?) leader in the west in time. Time to focus on moves to spark growth in other markets.

They/Phil has already said numerous times, post ABK they plan to acquire more

They might not for while (at least a year I reckon) but they ain’t done done

To say they are prepared for the West is an understatement but as huge as all these franchises are most of them are kind of irrelevant outside of the west

If they want to appeal worldwide they need content that appeals to the East
