Even if Sega is never acquired I would love to see the partnership grow to the point where when people think Sega they think Xbox. I’d love to see Sega experiment more with the backing of Xbox and Game Pass knowing niche games can reach a big audience.
Certain Affinity and Asobo, on the other hand, just need to happen. I imagine Asobo is in no rush and creating more IP of their own can only increase their value.
I wonder if Xbox will continue more projects with Stoic. Towerborne is gorgeous. It gives me Moon Studio feels in terms of artistry.
Crystal Dynamic and Eidos Montreal can’t catch a break. They went from a shit situation with Square to now another shit situation with Embracer. I hope when ABK is over and done with, MS can maybe free them from Embracer.
They don’t even need to purchase SEGAS. If they take a major stock option in it, like 49% or 40%? Then they can assure SEGA games release on Gamepass/Xbox, while not causing issues with the usual suspects in England and the USA regarding “anti trust!”. Something they don’t seem to mind when Apple is now rumored to buy up Disney again. I mean if one company is buying things up like crazy…
MS needs to make sure Asobo is not snatched away from them. The work the studio does on Flight Sim is exceptional, and while I wasn’t a fan of Plague Tale, that team could make those marquee cinematic games with high fidelity graphics many people gush over. 1st party money would help them hire more animators to boot.
I don’t think you’re right. If you think Sony is crying now? Just wait until they try to buy a Japanese studio. They will whip their fanboys into a complete rage.
I mean, I like their audio equipment, but SONY has a nasty habit of getting their fans …annoying beyond measure.
That’s where I’ve been the last few weeks, looking at the industry - especially this Embracer news that broke this morning. Tencent isn’t slowing down any time soon I wager, and with the Saudis increasing their footprint, it makes sense.
Yeah it kind of gave off the feeling that they’ve been lined up next. Get some smaller studios that can take risks and diversify the portfolio without costing to much.
