MS should pay whatever it takes to get Sega and then make that leaked Jet Set Radio game exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem and put all ressources behind it to release it asap.
Also, release a Jet Set Radio/Future double pack to build hype.

I was previously iffy on Sega since they had no mobile presence but after this deal it’s a lot more possible since Microsoft is opening their new mobile store they will continue to look for mobile companies
Okay it’s not even close. Sega is the best acquisition for Xbox
Sega with Rovio seems like a match made in heaven.
I in other news look forward to Sonic being added to Angry Birds. He easily could be in spin mode, when he is shot, from the slingshot.
Just imagine Dr Robotnic entering the Angry Birds universe and you shoot birds at him and then you use Sonic.
So there is huge potential with Sega buying Rovio.
Can’t wait for the next Yakuza to have an arcade machine to play Angry Birds.
Maybe it’ll be a game on your cell phone lol
That’s rad!
Capcom are fine the way they are. Literaly the best publisher on the planet right now.
So if it’s Sega, they gotta add Vanillaware and Arc Systems to the group.
And if I was them, I would poach some serious talent from rival Japan companies like Naoki Yoshida did for FF16. Idk how much money you would have to throw at these people to leave working for Nintendo, but they gotta get some of the lead level designers for Mario Odyssey or Kirby’s forgotten land to work on Sonic.
Yeah though I don’t see MS acquiring anything big soon, SEGA now does make a lot of sense now with Rovio: European devs (big studios whose games massively appeal to the PC audience) , The IPs, multimedia, jrpgs (one who, if managed correctly, could end up giving Final Fantasy a run for its money) and now mobile pub with also has a big IP attached to it.
…
…
But Asobo first
Even worse, Warner Discovery has already started fucking up the only wrestling promotion that I actually watch - AEW.
Smart move by Sega. Increase their value in order to sell down the line which I do believe will be Microsoft and im guessing that before the end of 2024, they have it announced and closed. They get a Japanese publisher, JRPG’s like Persona, Sonic, etc. and Angry Birds to go along with King, Diablo Immortal and COD Mobile. Yeah, I can easily see this happening. Plus, Microsoft would have one less acquisition to make - Rovio Entertainment.
The Sega deal is an odd one. Rovio previously tried to do a deal with playtika for $800m a few months ago and angry birds is long past it’s peak. I wonder if the big play is to get them onto Sega’s treasure trove of IP which is hugely valuable but there simalar sized mobile developers that would cost a decent amount less
On the contrary I would think you want to acquire as fast as you can. The more time goes Xbox could start growing and that could cause a pause with regulators. Xbox is obviously holding back with console sales for example giving that 80/20 split all the boost. Xbox need to at least try to get Sega as soon as possible if they can.
Zaslav really screwed it up. Warner should have merged with Paramount instead of Discovery. Now Warner has this ball in his foot and it’s not good for the future.
SEGA has made a lot of acquisitions in the West in recent years. I think it would be a good thing for SEGA to develop further in Japan with certain partner studios (Media.Vision, CC2, Platinum Games, Arc System). It would bring SEGA to the next level and it would make Microsoft’s job in Japan much easier (if SEGA is the next publisher to join the Xbox family).
I agree with you on this point. And that’s probably one of the reasons Microsoft didn’t seek to acquire dozens of independent studios. Microsoft is focusing on major acquisitions as long as its market share allows.
Sega gaming has IP’s for Console, PC, and Mobile. It fits all 3 area that MS and Xbox need to grow even more.
All that for i say around 5 billion? You get a lot in return, if Sega willing to sell.
I think they can leave the independent acquisitions to their subsidiaries. Zenimax just made an acquisition, and it went under the radar with no one knowing till it was done same thing with ABK. They need to get as much as they can now while they look weak.
