They’re kinda like Kojima. Been offered sizable deals, but are adamant about staying independent. We’ll see if thats their end goal or not though.
Things change all the time, I don’t think any such statements mean much.
Just like insomniac, double fine and ninja theory, but kojima is clear that he isnt going to sell to anybody, I eish that xbox supported this type of japanese developers that made bizzare and unique stuff
Maybe white owls, maybe gendesign, or even jp
Personally I think Crystal Dynamics & Eidos are the bigger losses.
Two fantastic AAA studios both of which are working on Xbox first party games and have their own superb IP.
Both Tripwire and Neon Giant were AA studios which were yet to prove they can transition to AAA.
Yep those two where on my list as well… sigh.
Great studios allready working with Xbox studios AND the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex IP’s? I don’t think a better fit is out there.
you all have no idea if MS was interested in acquiring any of these studios that “they missed out on”
Can you point to where someone said that please?
I feel like making educated guesses is part of the fun of this thread, is it not?
Dude simply cannot resist lol.
I think Xbox wouldn´t be looking at studios that small and with little experience anymore. They need results and videogames to nurture the service, so releasing quality ones at a steady pace shall be the goal.
Good decision . The industry loves and respects him , plus he is a “creators first” kinda guy . Oh and he actually loves DC comics (unlike hamada and snyder ) .
Snyder absolutely loves DC, just because you don’t like his take doesn’t mean he doesn’t like comics
Hamada seemed to be just another suit though
I refuse to believe that a guy that made superman an emotionally stunted Jesus allegory ( a character that was made by 2 Jews btw ) , Batman a killer ( plus said in an interview that his Batman Begins movie would have had Batman r*aped in the prison ) and a million other stupid decisions loves DC . You can claim he loves DC all you want but I dont see it , either in interviews or on the screen .
Thank God he is gone and not coming back .
Giving characters different takes does not mean you hate them, it’s been done in comics since their inception nearly 100 years ago and it’s what made them last as long as they have
But iv had these same dumb arguments from people far to many times to continue this, not to mention it’s the wrong thread so i’ll agree to disagree
true .
Little experience? Are you talking about Neon Giant? They might be small but it’s made up of some seriously experienced people.
With the right funding and growth they’ll make great games.
I’m hoping they will do future partnerships with Xbox, Neon Giant and Krafton, but especially Neon Giant .
I mean they may be experienced devs but they dont have a track record as a team.
Weve seen how lengthy regulatory processes ccan be for large publishers. We’ve also seen Xbox acquire more big franchises than they can deliver in a timely manner. As soon as ABK is done, its time to spend 12-18 months on buying up a minimum of a dozen independent studios. Honestly, I could see it being two dozen (including a number of mobile focused developers) and that would still be completely in line with what Microsoft is aiming to do.
Move with speed, accumulate variety, talent and teams.
It is the easiest path to boost gamepass with ton of diverse content, you can experiment having japanese content with jp studio, toylogic, platinum, white owls, etc
You can also get more support for your titles, it is clear that cod will need more support, bethesda needs to get double eleven for fallout 76, and xbox definitely needs asobo, crystal dynamics and eidos because they will not just make their games, but also help the other studios in the xbox family
So far I have only seen the coalition and obsidian helping others
But anyways I will just say BUY GRAVITY WELL, xbox you can make your own titanfall with this guys goddammit
I agree, post ABK the focus on big IP is almost over kill. They will own a good chunk of the largest IP there are and can afford to go back into investing in quantity and variety of new IP, or teams to help leverage existing IP.
