I don’t think MvC2 is coming back in any shape or form due to licensing.
Until Satya starts really getting into anime.
Is because marvel? I still dont unferstand why is like those people saying that the xmen werent in mvc infinite because fox owned the rights, do they also own the rights to videogames? And if thats the reason then their shouldnt be any problem now that disney bought them
I really need to look deeper into this situation
They just have to sign a new contract with Marvel.
Marvel/Disney owns the rights to the characters for the video games. Seems to me they purposely put aside the characters they didn’t have (in the MCU) in order to promote their own movies (Spiderman is an exception). Besides, it seems to me that they did more or less the same thing with the comics by ignoring certain characters to promote others. It’s just a marketing thing.
You can’t simply sign a new contract on an old game. Just look at Goldeneye
I think the two cases are very different. Goldeneye is a game developed by Rare (which now belongs to Xbox), published by Nintendo, which is an adaptation of the film of the 007 saga, distributed by MGM (among others), but whose rights belong to EON. Moreover MvsC2 has already had a re-release on Xbox360. Disney holds the Marvel license. Capcom holds its own licenses. There are no other actors to convince. Then, I think that for MvsC2 we would rather speak of a real remake.
But that was before Disney / Fox merger no? So MvC2 is bound by old Fox contracts. Which I believe somebody said are very complex (I think even Disney is slowly untying the knot related to X Men licenses). And that’s without Spider-man.
Fox only owned the film rights, like Sony with Spider-man.
Damm, xbox really missed the opportunity to buy the creators of alpha bear
The only way they could reward this is by buying capcom and remaster marvel vs capcom 2
Speaking of Capcom related stuff
I don’t really want Microsoft to buy more devs, any acquisition now we are probably not going to get ANYTHING from them for like 5+ years. I’d like them to rather invest better internally, maybe find a way to help 343 not continue murdering Halo or something.
Investing internally won’t make suddenly more games And Halo will be fine. With acquisitions new games will arrive faster than with internal investment anyway - in one case we have the established team, in other case you can to grow them for months or years to reach a decent capacity.
Maybe it’ll help the games come out? And I mean Halo isn’t fine. Infinite is next to dead already. It was my most hyped game and I beat it and haven’t touched it since. I usually play the multiplayer for months. Infinite was botched unfortunately. Hopefully it can somehow recover
I think they still need to buy in Japan, publisher and/or studios. Publisher will produce content within a year.
Internal investment is slower because to reach 100, 200, etc. developers you need months and months. When you acquire a studio, you have an established team already.
That’s for sure. It is a must.
Yes but with how many deals Sony has out and the dev cycle of games, the fruit of the acquisition will be 5+ years away and most likely not really till the next console gen. I’m looking at the current gen and how little has come out and how little there is in the next 12-18 months
How little there is in the next 12-18 months? What are you on lol
there’s so much in the next ~6 months alone…
What logic is even that?
