Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

That’s true but that does not mean that games will go to all the platforms. Even GaaS do not go to all the platforms - even from the third party publishers and developers. Much less it is not that important for the platform that have much bigger revenue and profits.

The fact that Microsoft pull out from Bungie deal - allegedly - due to Bungie’s desire to release multiplatform games - tells everything you need to know about Microsoft’s approach.

those gaas arent even that big compared to sports games made by EA

So? The point is that FIFA game would have to be released multiplatform that basically means that you have to support the developers that are making the game for the competitor’s platform too - and unlike support - they make the games on the regular basis too. And EA has tons of titles like this.

Games like Genshin Impact also very big BTW.

its also on biggest platform named mobile

That’s true. So?

All in all, for a platform holder there is no much benefits from having EA licensed games. Though a third party deal with EA is always good. That’s why I am curious if EA would be willing to sell some of their studios. But aside Bioware I don’t see any other studios EA would be willing to get rid of.

in the end sport games bring lot of casuals nd they r the ones MS is targetting

amazon cant even handle new world and their studios forget about handling EA

They are targetting to bring the casuals but it does not mean that are aiming to be a third party developer. I don’t see what’s difficult to understand.

where did i say they r becoming third party ?also u gotta remember that they have apex which generates more money too

No, you have been arguing that games were allowing more monetization schemes than movies and having EA would bring the community. I argued that EA produced too many licensed games that you would have to keep multiplatform (F1, WRC, FIFA (ok FIFPro), NFL etc.) basically forcing you to develop multiplatform games.

And it is not like FO76 or Warzone for that matter, those are the games released on a regular basis. So you will have staff making multiplatform games. Add to that EA Play service that EA also has and the one you will have to support and release the games there…

All in all, EA is not that attractive for the established platform holders. I wanted them to merge with Disney, but I guess another media giant is a possibility.

dont agree with u on that n same with your stand on Ubi either way we just think differently

Yeah, my position on Ubisoft is also negative. I am Capcom and T2 guy. But I want Capcom more :fire: :joy:

Originally I was Square Enix guy (still is, a littlle bit) but after learning that aside FF all other SE IPs are essentially third party IP, I stopped to bother with them much.

ubisoft is more a management problem rather than dev problem guillemot brothers r against innovation in their games nd even many people who worked there complained about it …i think casuals love their gamest lets see what happens

Absolutely not worth it. I suggest you read up on what the EA/FIFA event is actually about. The FIFA contract with EA was strictly over the name “FIFA” and the only impact in the game is not being able to have “World Cup Teams”. All the other aspects are licensed separately such as leagues, teams, and players.

There’s actually quite a few: Epic Games Store, GOG, Green Man, Origin & Humble etc.

Obviously Xbox now own 3, including Bethesda.net (decommissioned) and Battle.net (Activision/Bethesda).

None of those come close to Steam. The Epic Games Store is probably the closest but it needs a lot of work and needs to make improvements.

It has nothing to do with what european or american regulators check.

True but Gaben will never sell anyway, I do wonder what happens when/if he ever retires.

He probably isnt far from that

You would think at 59 he’d be thinking about it, but I personally I don’t ever see him retiring. He might just semi-retire but make sure the company doesn’t steer off.
