Plenty of options actually. I will keep throwing this one out there. Some former Final Fantasy talent (Hajime Tabata) and they seem in need of some funding as they haven’t found their footing yet.
IMO A Japanese publisher is unrealistic unless MS is willing to pay triple the price AND still allow Nintendo releases. That’s the only way I see a Japanese publisher happening.

I wouldn’t buy Kojima. His studio put out Death Stranding (with a ton of help from Sony) and that’s it.

I’d personally prefer to fill the Sega sized hole.
But I’m a Sega tragic

Kojima: “If I join, what can I not do?”
Phil: “Bold of you to assume I understand what you’re doing in the first place.”
Kojima: “I’m in!” XGS Inductee video for Kojima is a 17 minute video on how Otters and Encyclopedias are somehow related to a secret organization running Taco Bell.

Acquire Kojima just for the drip in this Photo…

This is what I want most post Activision.

To be fair if MS wants to get gamepass as big as it can get they do need all that with that said I was satisfied with how many studios they had after Bethesda

If they want it to be as big as it can get we should add Nintendo and Sony to the list
I think Capcom level acquisitions are all MS can do now. I doubt a T2 acquisition would go through, but then again crazier things happened.
If anything I think it will all depend on whether CoD and any other future titles are truly multiplatform.

It depends. If Sony truly is going to try a massive acquisition, Xbox absolutely could step in. If Sony went for it, it would signal it would go through and they couldn’t let the market leader expand like that and not someone behind the market leader. Same if Tencent tried.

I doubt that Sony would try to get something bigger than Square Enix.
…sition of this magnitude will be allowed in the US territory.
I see two opportunities to seize in the next few years: Warner and Ubisoft. I think an acquisition of Warner and the DC Comics license could be a great way to end the big acquisition, because it would bring almost everything missing from the Xbox catalog: LEGO superheroes / general audience games / fighting games / third person action games. They need Warner!! Unfortunately, I’m afraid they’ll go on sale before Activision Blizzard closes and Xbox’s hands are tied.
Ubisoft could be a second opportunity to seize in a few years. The situation is similar to Activision. There is work to be done to restore the image, but they have a lot of studios and an interesting license catalog. I think they need Microsoft to save them from sinking.
Warner is possible, but I don’t think that the french government would allow Ubisoft.

It’s amazing how we went from possible studios to publishers.

Microsoft will never be done, even if they stop searching actively. Xbox will join the party the second Take 2 wants to sell and tells all the big players like Sony about it. Bidding wars.

That’s what happens when you see the biggest publisher getting acquired. It shows that nothing is off table when it comes to how much it will cost.

I am happy with Activision Blizzard but find the calls for Microsoft to go down the line buying every major publisher kind of off putting.
We aren’t there yet, but there is a point where a company buying up half the industry is a bad thing. I don’t think we should be encouraging or cheering for stuff like that.

Where is a figure like half the industry coming from? Even with AKB Microsoft accounts for less than 15% of industry revenue.
