Yeah, the next big buy won’t happen until 2024.
We’re getting too greedy here. I’ll settle with 1 CAPCOM/SEGA sized publisher and call it good. Independent developers from there on out!
Obviously but even then…
Technically speaking, how many more publishers could Xbox buy without legal issues. Right now they are fine but when does it become an issue
Bungie has zero relationship with Sony and Bungie has been getting deals with Xbox ever since their split with Activision. Even the top 25 releases of 2022 to look forward to on PlayStation blog they didn’t mention witch queen. I feel deep down with the CEO tag Phil is gunning for Bungie.
With Netflix, Amazon coming in, I dont think antitrust matters will come up. There is 0 Monopoly with MS
I expect IOI, Avalanche and maybe Kojima in the next 5 years if their relationship goes well, I expect a Japanese studio to be acquired as that’s the only area they still need to strengthen
Alex is right here. We should absolutely settle with a CAPCOM/CAPCOM sized publisher. It would fill the CAPCOM sized hole, in the Xbox line up.
Ya to me if MS going to get a another publisher it should be a Japanese one then fill out with smaller studios
If they want more Japanese studios they will probably need to get a publisher. The only independent Japanese studios that I can think of are Kojima Productions and Platinum.
We know they have 70bn to spend, SE Europe seems logical.
Im more certain CDPR gst bought as well
I’m not saying a monopoly, I’m just wondering how many more publishers could they get!
I can see Kojima before a publisher in my opinion
They have 70 billion to spend because that’s how much cash they have left? For the entire company? Expecting to use all of their cash on gaming is wild.
Phil. What have you done?
IO Interactive should be the target before more publishers. They have multiple teams, are working on Project Dragon, and have Project 007 coming. Even if 007 is multiplat, it’s big IP that would be great for Game Pass.
I could really see Kojima Productions. I kind of think of him as the type of person that just takes the highest deal.
Assuming they want to be bought.
They were pretty public about getting a lot of “extravagant offers” (or something along those lines).
They might be trying to build up their value or stay indie. If there’s an option to though, MS should absolutely jump on that.
