Cd projekt is a public company, so we would already know by now of that was true.
Usually nothing leaks unless it happens literally next day or after. I mean remember ABK…And it was an american company
Hey guys, I was at the gas station and I overheard a guy talking about how his friend’s sister’s cousin’s uncle’s former roommate who lives in Japan says that Sony is acquiring Capcom. What do you guys think? Sound legit?
time to buy some capcom stock!
If Sony acquires Square Enix, Microsoft will be a huge trouble getting JRPGs on Xbox. Granted FF is moving away from being JRPG anyway.
If Microsoft acquires Capcom, it will be hilarious because they would own Street Fighter (and some other fighting games) while Sony would own a half of EVO
Though Sony is kinda smart in getting marketing deals for games. I mean if you look at it that way, Sony had marketing deals for JRPG and fighting games and overall japanese output. Microsoft have to deal that one way or another. While Capcom won’t solve JPRG or some other small japanese output content (a lot of it is a junk though that Square Enix produces), owning Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter would be neat.
I do curious what moves will Microsoft do there, because Sony is too entrenched with their deals there - especially due to PS1 and PS2 history.
With Warner bros stock going into oblivion, I wonder if theres a chance they could be picked by Microsoft for its synergy with xbox.
Oh, they lost 20b and went from 60b to 40b. I don’t believe Microsoft is gonna buy them simply because I do not see Microsoft being interested in movie production.
doesn’t always have to be about movies though. Owning the IP would be the goal. Owning DC, Cartoon network properties, and several hundred others and have the exclusive right to make games or to license them out I think would be the bigger goal. Also adding HBO max to Gamepass with content from all of their subsidiaries alone would be pretty big to boost GP numbers imho. The movie side could be sold off or just left to run independently.
They do have very popular IPs and they also have a very big gaming division which we know they are interested in. I could see it happen since many of their studios are doing tv shows and with the halos series success I could see them doing more of that.
People said the same thing about Apple… And Amazon…
Just saying, you make a lot of assertions that either ignore history or are far too certain to actually be so.
Gears of War series or Movie, the next season of Halo, Fallout show, and not to mention the already existing HBO/WB/Discovery properties all streaming on HBO max included on Gamepass is a very enticing proposition for growing those sub numbers. I would pay $20-$30 a month for a GP/HBO/WB/Discovery subscription.
Well, I do tend to portray everything in broad strokes but I just don’t see Microsoft going after Warner. They do have money though. I could believe that they would buy Paramount though - especially considering that both Microsoft and Sega are doing shows there (though Microsoft is also doing a show with Amazon via Bethesda).
If they go after movies they should go after Spotify too then - granted it is 20b now (fell from 60b).
I mean, if you’re close friends with some of the big shots at a company being sold ALLEGEDLY you may know ahead of time.
You guys want MS to buy everything lol. I am kinda curious if Netflix’s stalling business is a deterrent for any companies looking to invest in movie/TV streaming.
Yeah there was definitely a person or two here that knew about Bethesda, for example (not me for the record).
I definitely don’t want them to, I was simply correcting narratives here
The problem is that Netflix produces a lot of trash and current streaming market is very saturated. Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max, Paramount, Disney. It also does not help that Netflix does not own big IPs too. A lot of fighting is happening over big transmedia IPs that Netflix does not have.
Ive said this before but MS should havr opened up a proper division back in the 360 days and built 1 2 or even 3 japanese studios and fund them to supply xbox with games every 2 to 3 years of decent quality. They cna be jrpgs or other unique games something like sony had with games like sotc or ico. Msybe not at that level but similar.
They would have been able to expand those studios now with them being more established. Theyd be getting 5 to 6 games per gen and of high quality. Rstehr than pay publishers to port old jrpgs make your
I would be fine with Sony getting Square Enix because that could help the Activision/Blizzard deal go through quicker.
And in terms of Japanese studios PlatinumGanes could be a good one. Or Microsoft could grow Tango Gameworks into a massive studio.
Would it even need to be looked at by regulators though? Considering that Square basically doesn’t have western presence anymore.
I feel like we all have unrealistic expectations of Tango Gameworks, they’re an interesting and creative studio but they really don’t have the track record as of now to be such a massive figurehead in securing Japanese content for Microsoft.
It’s not so much that I want them to buy everything, they should just buy the things that specifically I like. And no one else should buy the other things. It’s not THAT much to ask for
