Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

what do you mean by rare?

There are not many fighting game studios in general. And most of them are very busy. It was very difficult for MS to find a studio for KI for example.

I mean I can think of a few Microsoft could buy to get one like Capcom, SEGA, Dimps (they have worked on a lot of stuff), their also arc work systems, Koei Tecmo, SNK, Reverge Labs ect. to name a few. That being said, NRS is one of the biggest in terms of indiviual studios and mortal kombat is in the top 4 biggest fighting games (the order changes decently frequently but its usually between Smash, TEKKEN, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter in terms of the biggest) but I don’t think they are that rare per say

I agree and just because they get rocksteady does not mean they have to license the batman IP, my feeling is if they get any of the WB studios they will probably countinue how they have managed all of their other studio’s just letting those studios work on what they want, and have creative freedom

Microsoft absolutely must buy NetherRealm and have them collaborate with Blizzard on a VS Fighting that would literally be my dream Vs Fighting.

They can try to pull the same trick as Riot Games with their games but with Warcraft characters. Though of course it is not Dota. But as a guest characters - like in Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.

I was thinking above all of a VS Fighting Warcraft (see with other licenses like Diablo, Starcraft, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch) but more in a big show style like Mortal Kombat with a more realistic style of graphics and fatalities as well to animate … I think NeterRealm is the master of Vs Fighting technically

In my opinion, whoever buys it will buy it in its entirety. NT is the study they need most but they also need someone else to make their hero games

Oh, right. Overwatch characters. Forgot about them.

however on the market there is interesting stuff

platinum, ubisoft, WB games

of the series when you would like to buy them all but you don’t have to give in the eye for the ftc

Remove Platinum and yep I agree.

you’re right I misspoke. I meant to say that there are many possibilities for acquisition.

Hoeg has said in his recent stream that MS buying one or a couple of WBIE studios could pose an issue IF the operation is announced while the A/B deal is pending

Do you have a time stamp?

Never mind, found it, its about 36 minutes in give or take

Its a maybe, it could raise eyebrows but he wouldn’t write if off. In other words it depends on multiple factors we wouldn’t know

All in all, Microsoft knows better.

But they won’t allow NRS to be purchased by anybody else.

MS should get them doing contract work with right of first refusal if sold.

yes

if WB discovery is looking to sell off their gaming division I doubt they will agree to this because they likely want to get rid of said division

I guess it depends on what gives them the biggest payday at the end of the day.

It looks like WB/Discovery are already doing weird things (just saw Batman cowl NFTs this morning) so I’m a bit confused by them.

That’s what I was thinking too. Hey WB well fund this studio for a year while we close the ATVI deal then buy NRS

I almost wonder if they could initiate something through a Game Pass deal to keep certain teams locked down.
